Joseph DuPont Obituary

Joseph DuPont

Joseph Lionel DuPont, 97, born March 26, 1920, in Nadeau, MI, passed away February 2, 2018 in Shiloh, Illinois.

Joseph, also known as "Joe" to family and friends was joy to anyone who knew and loved him. He was the youngest of 6 children. Joe proudly served his country in the United States Army, during World War II. He married the love of his life, Betty Jane Gregory, in December of 1941. This beautiful union brought three children, Larry, Ray and Sharon. Shortly after serving his country he found work at Pfizer's, in East St Louis. He worked there as a millwright foreman for almost 40 years, until his retirement. In his spare time he enjoyed gardening, growing his own vegetables, tending to his home (especially his lawn) and watching the St. Louis Cardinals. He was a member of the VFW Post #1117 in Caseyville, IL, the American Legion Post #365 and a devoted member of St. Stephen Catholic Church. He was a loving father, grandfather, great-grandfather, great-great-grandfather, uncle and friend. He will truly be missed by all who knew and loved him.

Joe was preceded in death by his wife of 52 years, Betty Jane DuPont; his son, Lawrence DuPont; his parents, Eli and Rosanna (nee Perras) DuPont; and five siblings.

Surviving him are his children, Raymond (Dani) DuPont, of Eustis, FL, and Sharon DuPont-Kuhn, of Witchita Falls, TX; his grandchildren, Wayne (Jennifer) Perkins, Dena (Bob) Vecchetti, Terri (Jim) DuPont-Frank, Ryan (Dawn) DuPont, Timothy Kuhn, and Karly (Aaron) Franton; 19 great-grandchildren, four great-great-grandchildren and a number of dear relatives and friends.

In lieu of flowers, memorials are appreciated to the Wounded Warrior Project or the Veterans Administration. Additional condolences and memories may be made online at www.lakeviewfuneralhm.com
