Lamar Moore

Herman Lamar Moore went to be with his Heavenly Father, Monday, July 4, 2011.

Lamar was born on Sept. 13, 1929, in Tupelo, Miss., to loving parents, Edwin L. Moore, Sr. and Bertha O., nee Riddle, Moore.

Lamar was a carpenter (Local 633) who owned Lamar Moore Construction Company in Granite City for over 25 years.

He was a life-long active member of the Good Samaritan Nazarene Church in Collinsville, Ill., where he served as a board member and usher. He was preceded in death by his parents, Edwin and Bertha Moore; brothers, Paul and Eugene Moore; and his grandson, Anthony Don Cato.

He leaves to celebrate his life, his loving wife and loving companion of 61 years, Lillie "Kate", nee Dunn, Moore; children, Janice (Donald) Cato, Bruce (Karen) Moore, and Mark (Kimberly) Moore; and five grandchildren, Tyson Cato, Ashley (Kyle) Kerkemeyer, Kelsea, Kourtney and Logan Moore; brothers, Edwin "Ed" L. May your memories of the wonderful times you shared with your loved one comfort you and your family, today and always.

Dear Kate & Family:
I just learned late last night about Lamar's passing. Jerry Forte called me. If I had known earlier I surely would have attended the services this morning.

I suspect as I write now his memorial service is in process. Please let me assure you that I have always loved you and Lamar. The two of you were always extremely good to my family and me. Lamar is one of the best laymen I have ever pastored. He was a faithful christian and a wonderful churchman.

I have often wondered about you and Lamar and your beautiful kids. I often asked Jerry about you when I talked to him.

Lamar's life is to be celebrated at his passing. And, the memory of his life will continue to speak to all of us.

Kate, if there is any manner I can help you, please let me know.
