Davis Jr.
Lawrence G. "Larry" Davis Jr., 79, of Belleville, Ill., born Nov. 24, 1923, in Ottumwa, Iowa, died Saturday, May 31, 2003, at Caseyville Nursing Home, Caseyville, Ill.
Mr. Davis was a T.V. and radio announcer. Starting as a radio announcer in high school, from 1947 to 1954 he was a radio announcer for KRNT in Des Moines, Iowa, from 1954 to 1955 he was a radio and T.V. announcer for KTAR in Phoenix, Az., from 1955 to 1963 he was a radio and T.V. announcer for KRNT-T.V. in Des Moines, Iowa. He was in public relations for a number of insurance companies from 1963 to 1970, and worked at the Iowa Conservation Commission, and Iowa Division of Employment Security, where he Retired in 1989. He moved to Belleville, Ill. in August 1989. He was a member of the Readers Theatre in Belleville, Ill., and a member of the Retired and Senior Volunteer Program of Belleville Area Chapter (PSOP). He was a WWII U.S. Army veteran.
He was preceded in death by his first wife, Lois J. Davis; parents, Lawrence G. & Ethel, nee Phillips, Davis Sr.; two brothers, Phillip and Merrill Davis; and a sister, Mary Mitchell.
Surviving are his wife, Lois I., nee Binns, Davis; a son, Gerald (Marian) Davis of San Antonio, Texas; two grandchildren, Kevin L. Davis and Emily C. Davis.
Memorials may be made to the American Cancer Society or Unity Hospice.

Visitation: Friends may call at 11 a.m. Wednesday, June 4, 2003, at the Kurrus Funeral Home, Belleville, Ill.

Funeral: Funeral service will be held at 1 p.m. Wednesday, June 4, 2003, at the funeral home with the Rev. Bob Nowlin, chaplain of Unity Hospice officiating. Burial in Valhalla Gardens of Memory, Belleville, Ill.
