Lester Germann

Lester Otto Germann, 83, of Millstadt, Ill., born June 8, 1928, in St. Clair County, Ill., passed away on Saturday, Dec. 10, 2011, at Mercy Medical Center in Creve Coeur, Mo.

Lester was a retired masonry contractor and operated Lester Germann Brick Contractor for 40 years. He was a member of Zion Evangelical Church in Millstadt, Ill., Zion Brotherhood, Millstadt Union Fire Department, Columbia Blue Lodge 474 A.F. & A.M., Southwest Mason Contractor Association, Nut Growers Association and the Gateway Computer Club.

Lester was preceded in death by his parents, Otto and Ida, nee Miller, Germann; his brothers, Howard and Elmer Germann; and his sister, Fern Germann.

Surviving are his wife of 61 years, Dorothy, nee Fischer, Germann of Millstadt, Ill.; son, Robert (Linda) Germann of Millstadt, Ill.; daughter, Patti (Mike) French of Millstadt, Ill.; son, Mike (Diane) Germann of Millstadt, Ill.; son, Mark (Deb) Germann of Millstadt, Ill.; grandchildren, Krista Germann, Tom Germann, Christopher French, Stephen French, Matthew Germann, Cassie (Richie) Wienhoff, and Amy Germann; sister, Florine Doerr of East Carondelet, Ill.; and a sister-in-law, Ophelia Germann of Millstadt, Ill. He is also survived by nieces, nephews, cousins and many friends.

Memorials may be made to the Loving Trust Window Fund at Zion Evangelical Church or to the donor's choice.

Visitation: Friends may call from 4 to 8 p.m. Monday, Dec. 12, 2011, at Strauss-Leesman Funeral Home in Millstadt, Ill., and from 9 to 10 a.m. Tuesday, Dec. 13, 2011, at Zion Evangelical Church in Millstadt, Ill. A fire department walk through will be at 7 p.m. Monday at the funeral home.

Funeral: Funeral service will be held at 10 a.m. Tuesday, Dec. 13, 2011, at the church with the Rev. Darrell Weber, officiating. Burial will be at Mount Evergreen Cemetery in Millstadt, Ill.

We are so sorry to learn of the death of Uncle Les. What an incredible life he lived! You all have been through a lot lately and it has to be good to know that he is at peace.
