Martha Herr

Martha L. Herr, 91, of the Liberty Village in Maryville, Ill., and formerly of Collinsville, Ill., born July 29, 1920, in East St. Louis, Ill., passed away on Friday, June 1, 2012, at Anderson Hospital in Maryville, Ill.

Mrs. Herr had worked at Sussman Drugstore in East St. Louis, Ill., and was a member of the Fairmont Baptist Church in Fairmont City, Ill. She will be remembered for the love and special times shared with her family and friends.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Sidney J. Herr Jr., whom she married on June 15, 1940, in St. Charles, Mo., and who died on Dec. 26, 1976; parents, Harry and Catherine, nee Duncan, Parrott; a great-granddaughter, Sydney Kahle; two brothers, Dean Parrott and Harry Parrott Jr.; one brother-in-law, Lester McEwing and one sister-in-law, Olga Parrott.

Surviving are her three daughters, Gail Bryant of Collinsville, Ill., Linda (Darrell) Garcia of Maryville, Ill., and Darleen and Dennis Eads of Oakville, Mo.; five grandchildren, Teri (Barney) Rodawald, Brad Bryant, Staci Garcia, Angie (Casey) Kahle and Erin Eads; six great-grandchildren, Mason Summers, Hannah Rodawald, Blake Bryant, Alexis Kimbrell, Camden Kahle and Jase Kahle; one sister, Helen McEwing of Highland, Ill.; one sister-in-law, Betty Parrott of Shiloh, Ill.; nieces; nephews; other extended family and friends.

Memorials may be made to the First Baptist Church of Maryville Building Fund or to Hospice of Southern Illinois and may be accepted at the funeral home.

Visitation: Friends may call from 4 to 8 p.m. Tuesday, June 5, 2012, at Irwin Chapel, 591 Glen Crossing Road in Glen Carbon, Ill.

Funeral: Services in celebration of her life will be held at 10 a.m. on Wednesday, June 6, 2012, with the Rev. Dr. Tom Hufty officiating. Burial will be at Lake View Memorial Gardens in Fairview Heights, Ill.
