Mary Bruns Obituary

Mary Bruns
Mary Elsie Bruns, nee Meyer, 91, of Belleville, Ill., born May 24, 1918, in Ina, Ill., died peacefully Wednesday, June 17, 2009, at St. Elizabeth's Hospital, Belleville, Ill.
Mrs. Bruns was christened and confirmed at St. Paul Evangelical and Reformed Church in Belleville and was married there. She belonged to the First United Presbyterian Church, Belleville, Ill., and the Presbyterian Women. She was also a member of the Memorial Hospital Auxiliary, of which she was an active member for over 25 years. Mary was an avid bridge player and belonged to the Bel Comers Club for many years.
Mary was preceded in death by her husband of 50 years, Ervin G. Bruns, whom she married May 29, 1938, and who died May 25, 1988; her son, Jeffrey P. Bruns; her parents, John and Nettie, nee Williford, Meyer; two sisters, Pearl (John) Burke and Ella (Alvin) Kebel; and her brother, Ervin (Alma) Meyer.
Surviving are her daughter, Marsha L. Wild of Belleville, Ill.; four grandchildren, Carrie Ann (Gary) Gilbert, Greg (Anne) Bruns, Scott (Jill) Bruns, and Kevin (Allison) Bruns; seven great-grandchildren, Kayla, Kaitlyn, and Ashlynn Bruns, Logan Bruns, Parker and Noah Bruns, and Luke Gilbert; and nieces and nephews.
Memorials may be made to Family Hospice or to First United Presbyterian Church, Belleville, Ill. Condolences may be expressed to the family online at www.rennerfh.com.

Visitation: Friends may call from 9:30 to 11:30 a.m. Saturday, June 20, 2009, at First United Presbyterian Church, 1303 Royal Heights Road, Belleville, Ill.

Funeral: A memorial service will be held at 11:30 a.m. Saturday, June 20, 2009, at First United Presbyterian Church, Belleville, Ill., with the Rev. Alex Hendrickson officiating. In accordance with Mary's wishes cremation was held. Private burial of cremains will be held at a later date at Mascoutah Cemetery, Mascoutah, Ill.
