Chesterfield, Missouri - Mary Rita Katt, 98, of Chesterfield, MO, born November 11, 1926, in Belleville, IL, passed away Wednesday, November 20, 2024.
Mary was born and raised in Belleville, IL, attending Cathedral Grade School, Notre Dame Academy, and LeClerc College for Women. In addition to raising her children, Mary spent much of her life volunteering, including various roles at the U.S.O., a nurse's aide and canteen worker at Scott Air Force Base, a candy striper at St. Elizabeth's Hospital, and years of volunteer work at both Head Start and Meals on Wheels. Mary was especially proud of her time spent at Christian Hospital Northeast including serving as a board member and historian for their Ladies Auxiliary Board, performing in musicals for their Cardiac Capers event, and modeling for their style shows. Most of all, Mary adored her family-hosting weekly Sunday dinners, being in the front row for every one of her grandchildren's sports games, performances, and ceremonies, and corresponding with her many cousins, nieces, and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her husband of over 65 years, Donald R. Katt, whom she married on March 17, 1954.
She was a devoted mother to Trish (Tim) Madden and Ken Katt; loving sister to Rita (Grosspitch) Grandcolas; and a dedicated grandmother to Ryan, Molly, and Colleen Madden.
In lieu of flowers, contributions to Evelyn's House Hospice or the Humane Society of Missouri in honor of Mary would be appreciated. Condolences may be expressed to the family online at www.rennerfh.com.
Visitation: Friends may visit from 9 to 11 a.m. Tuesday, November 26, 2024, at George Renner & Sons Funeral Home, Belleville, IL.
Funeral: Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Tuesday, November 26, 2024, at George Renner & Sons Funeral Home, Belleville, IL.
Burial will be at Green Mount Catholic Cemetery, Belleville, IL.

It has been my absolute pleasure to be a friend of Trish Madden RN since 1977. During this time, I was able to have wonderful, fun and meaningful, lovely conversations with Trish, her Mom and Grandmother. I will very much miss Mrs. Katt saying the sweetest "Good Morning " EVER when I called. The Katt/Madden family IS the greatest at spreading friendship and joy to all who have known them.
