Mary Geppert Reime
Mary Mercedes (Geppert) Reime, passed away on July 13, 2008, after a long bout with Alzheimer's. She was formerly married to the late Carl Reime of Belleville, Ill.
Mary is survived by a son, David Reime (Catherine Backer) of Chicago, Ill.; and four daughters, Susan Reime (Joseph Leindecker) of St. Louis, Mo., Mary Claire (Jack) Thrift of Jacksonville, Texas, Ann Saylor of Belleville, Ill., and Elaine (Keith) Wessel of St. Louis, Mo.; her 10 grandchildren, Sharon Thrift Nance, Jonathan Thrift, Laura Thrift Adams, Kathleen Thrift Parker, Brian (Amy) Herbert, Andrea "Nicky" Saylor, Nicholas Saylor, Andrew Leindecker, Claire Leindecker and Kyle Sommer; nine great-grandchildren; seven nieces; and two nephews.
Mary was preceded in death by her parents, John and Cecelia (Kapps) Geppert and two brothers, Eugene Geppert, a World War II pilot, and Lawrence Geppert. A brother, Jerry (Dana) Geppert of Mobile, Ala., and a sister-in-law, Eileen Geppert of Menomonee Falls, Wis., survive.
Born on Nov. 12, 1926, in East St. Louis, Ill., she graduated from the Academy of Notre Dame in Belleville in 1944 and LeClerc College in 1947, with a BA in Spanish. She taught third grade at St. Boniface in Germantown, Ill., and was a substitute teacher in the Belleville area. She was a member of Blessed Sacrament, St. Teresa's and St. Mary's Parishes in Belleville and St. Joan of Arc Parish in St. Louis. Mary was active in local senior activities in South St. Louis, and enjoyed playing cards, photography, genealogy, and working in her yard.

Service: A Memorial Mass will be celebrated on Saturday, Aug. 2, 2008, at 10 a.m. at Blessed Sacrament Church, 8707 West Main St., Belleville, Ill. Mary's cremated remains will be buried in Mount Carmel Cemetery, Belleville, Ill., with her parents and brothers. Following the Mass and burial, family and friends are invited to a buffet luncheon from 11:30 a.m. to 3 p.m. at the Visitor's Center at the Shrine of Our Lady of the Snows, Rt. 15, Belleville.
