Melanie Killian Obituary

Melanie Killian (nee Reese) of O'Fallon, IL, was born April 5, 1944 in Baltimore, Maryland. She passed away on Sunday, October 5, 2025.

She was born and raised in Baltimore, MD where she worked at the CIA and Legg Mason Inc. until she married her beloved husband of 44 years, Bill, on June 8, 1968. She was a supportive military wife to Bill while he served in the Air Force for 21 years. Through their assignments, she and Bill traveled all over the country living in various states including New York, Washington, Texas, South Carolina, and Hawaii before settling down in O'Fallon, IL. She was a devoted wife, Mom to three children and Grami to seven grandchildren whom she loved dearly and was very proud of. Family was very important to her and the center of her world. Her hobbies included gardening, in which she obtained an associate's degree from Southwestern Illinois College, helping others, international traveling with her husband, and watching her grandkids grow. She was an active member of St. Nicholas parish in O'Fallon where she volunteered countless hours on various boards and positions and was blessed with many friendships that were formed and nurtured with her parish family.

She is preceded in death by her husband William Francis Xavier "Bill" Killian on January 5, 2013; and her parents, Arthur and Ethel Reese.

She is survived by her children, William Killian, Jr. (Lucy) of LaGrange, IL; Brian Killian (Tracy) of Denver, CO; and Ashley Storm (Matt) of Normal, IL; grandchildren Wesley, Charlie, and Will Killian, Kiera and Mason Killian, Grace and Alison Storm; her brother John (Karen) Reese, and many nieces and nephews.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Yesterday's Kids through St Nicholas Church, or the American Cancer Society.

Visitation: 4-7 pm, Friday, October 10, 2025 at St. Nicholas Catholic Church, 625 St. Nicholas Dr., O'Fallon, IL, and after 9:30 am, Saturday, October 11, 2025 at the church. Yesterday's Kids will conduct a walk-through at 10 am on Saturday, at the church.

Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10:30 am, Saturday, October 11, 2025 at St. Nichoals Catholic Church, with Fr. Nick Junker presiding. Entombment will follow at Lake View Memorial Gardens, Fairview Heights, IL. Wolfersberger Funeral Home is serving the Killian family. Online condolences may be shared at www.wfh-ofallon.com.
