Freeburg, Illinois - Melissa Touchette, nee Gale, wife of Scott and mother of Landon, passed away too soon at the age of 54, on October 31, 2023, after a hard-fought battle with ovarian cancer.

She had a tremendous faith in God and drew comfort from her relationship with Him. Melissa was known for her love of Jehovah and her love of family.

She was born to parents Ted and Jane, nee McDonald, Gale in Belleville, IL., in August of 1969. She lived her entire life in Freeburg and was a 1987 graduate of Freeburg Community High School where she was a member of the volleyball team. Immediately after high school, Melissa attended SWIC and graduated with a Physical Therapist Assistant associate in applied science degree. She possessed a caring nature and worked in rehabilitation facilities in Missouri and Illinois where she was known to provide excellent care to the patients she served.

Mrs. Touchette was preceded in death by both sets of her grandparents, Clarence and Fleta McDonald and Clyde and Myrtle Gale; and her father-in-law, whom she cared for until his passing, Jerold Touchette.

Surviving are her high school sweetheart and husband, Scott Touchette; her son, Landon (Emma File) Touchette; her parents, Ted and Jane, nee McDonald, Gale; four siblings, Sheila (Dennis) Tewell, Mike (Becky) Gale, Chad (Julie) Gale, and Jodi (Keith) Jany; her mother-in-law, Ruth Touchette; two brothers-in-law, Steven (Denise) Touchette, and Keith (Michelle) Touchette. Melissa will be mourned by all of her nieces and nephews, as well as her many aunts, uncles, cousins, and friends.

Although Melissa's passing leaves us all with a tremendous sense of loss and sadness, we will hold tight to the promise and draw comfort from knowing we will be reunited with her again in a perfect paradise.

Visitation: Friends may visit from 4 to 8 p.m. Thursday, November 2, 2023, at George Renner & Sons Funeral Home, Freeburg, IL, and from 9 to 10 a.m. Friday, November 3, 2023, at George Renner & Sons Funeral Home, Freeburg, IL.

Funeral: A memorial service will be held at 10 a.m. Friday, November 3, 2023, at George Renner & Sons Funeral Home, Freeburg, IL.
