Herculaneum, Missouri - Merial E. Governal, nee Miller, 85, of Herculaneum, MO, formerly of Cahokia, IL. born April 16, 1936, in St. Louis, MO. passed away on Wednesday, June 16, 2021 at her residence.
Merial was a member of Saint Stephen Catholic Church in Caseyville, IL and former member for many years of Holy Family Catholic Church in Cahokia, IL. She was retired from Enterprise Monogram Candy in St. Louis, MO. Merial loved playing bingo, rummikub, and pinochle, She was also a member of the Red Hat Society and former President and Treasrer of the Cahokia Senior Citizens.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Kenneth L. Governal; her parents, Julius Rose and Melba Wuebbold; and two brothers; Roger Miller and Roy M. Rose.
Surviving are her children; Linda (James McDonnell) Calahan of St. Louis, MO, Laurie (Clifford) Woldanski of Herculaneum, MO, Kenneth J. (Pamela) Governal of Killeen, TX, Dennis Governal of Orlando, FL, Daniel (Shelia) Governal of Killeen, TX, and Ronald (Karen) DeSuza of Belleville, IL; one brother, Jerry (Carol) Rose of St. Louis, MO. 12 grandchildren; Matthew (Beth) DeSuza, Andrew (Antonella) DeSuza, Rachel (Mike) Heitman, Stephanie (Decorda) McGee, Jason (Amy) Calahan, Colleen (Jackie) Calahan, Jenna (Brandon) Johnson, Karra (Alejandro) Najera, Joshua (Yoshie) Governal, Nicole (Desiree) Governal, Tara (Shawn) Governal and Daniel (Claryce) Governal. 24 great grandchildren and 1 great great grandson. Merial was also a dear aunt, cousin, sister-in-law and friend to many.

Memorials may be made to the charity of donor's choice
Memorial visitation will be on Saturday June 26, 2021 from 1:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m. at Braun Family Funeral Home 265 Quarry Rd. Columbia, IL. Services will be held at 2:00 p.m. with Father Linus Umoren officiating. Merial's wish was to be cremated.
Arrangements were entrusted to Braun Family Funeral Home, Columbia, IL.
