Michael Seger

Michael D. Seger, 55, of Saint Jacob, Ill., born April 5, 1955, in St. Louis, Mo., died Sunday, May 9, 2010, at Anderson Hospital in Maryville, Ill.

Mr. Seger was a member of Saint Jerome Catholic Church in Troy Ill., the homecoming parade chairman, NPK Club, honorary member of Triad Future Farmers of America Chapter 1989, chief umpire for the baseball-softball association from 1992 to 1997, he coordinated the youth basketball program from 1993 to 1999, coach of the American Legion Junior Team from 1998 to 1999, charter member of Jaycee in St. Jacob, Ill., served on the Village Board from 1977 to 1987, was a volunteer fireman (retired as Captain) serving from 1977 to 1997 and the Korte Recreation Center.

Mike grew up in Highland and graduated from Highland High School in 1973. He worked for Bergmann-Taylor Inc., from 1973 to 1998; worked for UAP Richter from 1998 to 1999; then worked for Madison Service Company, serving as location manager of marine facility and marketing manager of Madison Service F.S.

He loved to travel. Enjoyed gardening, bird watching, Cardinals baseball and spending time with his grandchildren.

Michael was preceded in death by his father, Dolph H. Seger; a daughter, Kristi Ann Seger; and father-in-law, John L. "Jack" Kamper.

Surviving are his wife, Connie T., nee Kamper, Seger of Saint Jacob, Ill., whom he married on Nov. 11, 1972; son, Kyle M. (Jessica L.) Seger of Staunton, Ill.; daughters, Kelli R. (Dwayne) Abbe of Highland, Ill., and Kimberli M. (special friend, Mike Zaloga) Seger of Highland, Ill.; mother and step father, Clarene R., nee Wenzel, (Hollie M.) Willmann of Greenville, Ill.; grandchilden, Kaitlin R. Rutz, Kali Rose Rutz, Blake M. Abbe and Bryan L. Abbe; brother, Steve W. (Carol) Seger of Highland, Ill.; sister, Jerri L. (Dave) Riechmann of Alhambra, Ill.; mother-in-law, Wilma E. Kamper of Highland, Ill.; sisters-in-law, Joyce A. Kamper of Highland, Ill., and Jolene M. (James) Wagner of Springfield, Mo.; and brother-in-law, Tom L. (Debbie) Kamper of Thompson, Ill.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Horticulture Department at Highland High School, the Tri-Township Park or St. Jacob Township Park. Expressions of sympathy may be sent to the family by visiting www.spengel-boulanger.com.

Visitation: Friends may call from 3 to 8 p.m. on Thursday, May 13, 2010, and from 8 to 9:15 a.m. on Friday, May 14, 2010, at Spengel-Boulanger Funeral Home in Highland, IL,

Funeral: Mass will be held at 10 a.m. on Friday, May 14, 2010, at Saint Jerome Catholic Church in Troy, Ill., with Father Pat G. Jakel officiating. Interment will be at Keystone Cemetery in Saint Jacob, Ill.
