Aviston, Illinois - Paul M. Honer, 82, of Aviston, IL, born June 22, 1941, in Belleville, IL, died Monday, August 21, 2023, at Breese Nursing Home, Breese, IL.
Paul worked as a Federal and State of Illinois meat inspector for over 30 years. During his inspections he enjoyed going to all the local meat markets and making connections with all the employees. Paul was a lifetime Member of the American Paint Horse Association. Paul was a former member of the American Quarter Horse Association, American Rabbit Breeders Association, and the Cowboy Reunion Club. He had a love for animals which came from his grandfather, Walter Hoehner, who was the first veterinarian in Belleville. He loved going on road trips, especially when he was headed to the Will Rogers Coliseum in Fort Worth, Texas.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Raymond J. and Alleene E., nee Hoehner, Honer.
Surviving are his five children, Rhonda M. (Michael) Bauer, Todd A. (Jennifer) Honer, Kelly S. (Keith) Lampe, Austin P. (Lorna) Honer, and Dawn L. Honer; seven grandchildren, Matthew, Stephanie, Ashley, Abby, Niki, Sami, and Zach; five great-grandchildren, Landon, Ean, Emma, Owen, and Oliver; one brother, Allen Ray Honer; and a former sister-in-law, Mary, nee Kaiser, Brown.
The family would like to thank St. Joseph Hospital, Breese, IL, and Breese Nursing Home for their kindness and care for Paul.
