The KIMBRELL Family expresses deepest condolences over the passing of our friend FATHER RICHARD WEIDERT, JR.

Father Richard was a generous, intelligent, caring man of many accomplishments. He was the priest at Meredith Memorial Home the last few years that my mother CHARLOTTE KIMBRELL resided there in Belleville, IL.

Father Richard devoted many long hours to counseling my mother when we suddenly lost a member of our family, my mother's second son/ my older brother. He consoled and counseled my grief-stricken mother - spiritually, as well as giving selfless hours of assistance in legal and estate matters, that ensued as a result of the sudden death. He went way above and beyond the call of duty.

He was a learned, highly educated man. He was fascinating to converse with. He and Father ROBERT GORE, the previous Meredith Home priest, co-conducted the funeral mass for my late brother JEFFREY KIMBRELL in May 2009. It was a very moving and dignified ceremony that provided much-needed solace to all of our family.

Coincidentally, he and my brother Jeffrey had met once and engaged in a lively discussion about St. Louis history, which was a mutual passion they both shared.

After the mass, we had a luncheon nearby and were honored by the presence of both priests. We broke bread together and shared stories for many hours.

He was a true St. Louis sports fan! He was modest about the many years he dedicated to local youth sports activities.

Our entire family expresses deepest sorrow at this sad news of the passing of this kind man. He will be greatly missed.

Sincerely,
CHERYL KIMBRELL

To the WEIDERT FAMILY and Fellow Clergy:

The officers and members of FRIENDS of PRIESTS of Greater Metro St. Louis offer their deepest prayerful sympathy on the passing of FR. RICHARD J. WEIDERT, Jr., a distinguished "second career" priest and vocation who served the Church faithfully in the Roman Catholic Diocese of Belleville (IL) and the Archdiocese of St. Louis (Mo).

Fr. RICHARD's faith-filled service to the Church as a later vocation and practicing attorney allowed many to find devotion, sacramental presence, and service when needed at critical times in parishes, nursing homes, and other apostolates he so diligently served.

Fr. RICHARD will be remembered in the Masses and regular prayers of FRIENDS of PRIESTS of Greater Metro St. Louis, which offers prayerful and temporal support for the vocations and service of Priests, Religious, Deacons, Sisters, Brothers and Vowed Laity throughout the Bi-State Region.

May God Grant Fr. RICHARD Eternal Rest with Him, and know of our sympathy and sincere consolation to all of you at this special time!
