Robert Heizer

Robert L. Heizer, 66, of Bunker Hill, Ill., born July 13, 1947, in Red Bud, Ill., died at 10:30 a.m. Tuesday, July 30, 2013, at Alton Memorial Hospital, Alton, Ill.

Mr. Heizer retired from the U.S. Navy having served in Vietnam. He was a member of the American Legion Post of Bunker Hill, Disabled American Veterans, St. Michael's Church of Staunton, and AM Vets of Mount Olive. Robert was an old car enthusiast, enjoyed basketball and wood craft.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Leo and Rosalie, nee Heck, Heizer; and a sister, Mary Frances Heizer.

Surviving are his wife, Joan C., nee Horenkamp, Heizer, whom he married on Nov. 24, 1979, at St. Joseph's Church in Prairie DuRocher, Ill.; two stepsons, Frank (Barbara) Trost of Bethalto, Ill., and Joe Trost (companion, Dianna) of Springfield, Ill.; two step-grandchildren, Megan Trost and Frank Trost; two brothers, John (Carol) Heizer of Jackson, Mo., and Bill (Diane) Heizer of Belleville, Ill.; and his sister, Joan (Ron) Stork of Sparta, Ill.

Visitation: Friends may call from 4 to 8 p.m. Friday, Aug. 2, 2013, at Kravanya Funeral Home in Bunker Hill, Ill.

Funeral: Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. Saturday, Aug. 3, 2013, at St. Michael's Church in Staunton, Ill., with Father George Radosevich officiating. Following his funeral service he will be cremated and his cremains will be buried in St. Barbara's Cemetery in Okawville, Ill.
