Belleville, Illinois - Robert "Bobby" Ray Prosise II of Belleville, IL, born May 31, 1963, in Alton, IL, died on Sunday, February 19, 2023, at his residence, surrounded by his loving family.
Bobby, known by friends as "Skip," worked in many different capacities throughout his life, from law enforcement and security to medical transport and over the road trucking. However, his true talent was his ability to make friends from every walk of life, wherever he went. He always saw the best in people, accepted them without judgment, and gave his love to his friends and family without condition. He was a natural storyteller who had an anecdote to relate to every life situation. He had a passion for travel, and although he settled down later in life, he always enjoyed a great road trip with his loving wife. Some of his favorite things included the St. Louis Cardinals, Hawaiian print shirts, pineapple upside down cake, coconut cream pie, and always a great, home cooked meal. However, above all else, Bobby was a family man. He loved unreservedly and with his entire heart his dearest wife, "Suzie." He accepted his stepchildren as his own and offered them support and unconditional love from the beginning. Bobby had the utmost respect for the public safety industry and was exceptionally proud of his son, Robert, for his work as a paramedic. His pride and joy in life were his grandchildren, who knew and loved him as their "Pappy." He will be deeply missed by so many friends and family whose lives he touched with his kindness, unconditional friendship, huge heart, and selflessly generous nature.
Bobby was preceded in death by his mother, LaVonne (nee Spurgeon) Prosise, and his father, Robert Ray Prosise. He is survived by his loving wife, LaDonna Sue "Suzie" Teel Prosise; his sister, Linda Prosise; his children, Robert Ray Prosise III, Jared Teel, and Jane (Christopher) Lybarger; five grandchildren, Maria Lybarger, Nadia Lee, Eliana Lybarger, Elijah Reece, and Alexander Lybarger; and many loving friends who he counted as family.
In lieu of flowers, Bobby's family requests that memorial donations be made to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital.
A memorial celebration of Bobby's well-lived life will be held at a date and location to be determined this summer.
