Ronald Malone Obituary

Ronald Malone

Ronald F. Malone of Glen Carbon, Ill., born October 23, 1943, in St. Louis, Mo., passed away Thursday, April 30, 2015, after a hard-fought battle with lung cancer. He was 71 years of age.

He was a member of the First Christian Church of Edwardsville, Ill.

Ron graduated from Edwardsville High School in 1962 and served in the U.S. Air Force from 1964 to 1968, spending 3 years in Japan. He earned B.A. and M.S. degrees from SIUE. He taught American history and Spanish at Dupo High School for 32 years.

Ron loved motorcycles and had traveled the back roads of 49 states and much of Canada. His motorcycle breakfast friends, Tuesday lunch group, and Euro Motor Union members will miss him. He remembered every road he ever traveled and retained a wealth of motorcycle-related information. He had a wonderful sense of humor.

Ron loved to travel. After his retirement, Ron and Laurie were fortunate to visit many places around the world. Often they traveled with friends and shared many adventures with the Bauers, Kershaws, and Hubers. To the end, his favorite destination was either Elk Grove Village, Ill., (to see the grandchildren) or to New

Zealand for further exploration. He had a GREAT ride!

He was preceded in death by his parents Maude, nee Gott, and Frank Malone.

He is survived by his beloved wife of 45 years, Lauralee, nee Patterson, Malone of

Glen Carbon, Ill.; his much-loved son, Ryan Brooks Malone (Jennifer); and cherished grandchildren, Delaney, Reagan, and Kellen Malone, all of Elk Grove Village, Ill.; a

dear brother, Jim Malone of Palmyra, Ill.; and two nieces.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Hospice of Southern Illinois at Relais Bonne Eau or Metro East Humane Society.

Visitation: Friends may call from 10 a.m. to Noon, Saturday, May 9, 2015, at Sunset Hill Funeral Home, 50 Fountain Dr., Glen Carbon, Ill.

Funeral: Funeral Services will be held at Noon Saturday, May 9, 2015, at the funeral home.
