Ruby Stovall

Ruby Stovall, 88, of East Saint Louis Ill., born April 27, 1925, in Shuqualak Miss., passed away peacefully on Friday, Feb. 21, 2014, at St. Elizabeth's Hospital in Belleville Ill.

Ruby Stovall was a faithful member of Truelight Baptist Church the Rev. Henry Nicholson, pastor. She received her formal education in the East St. Louis School District. Her employment consisted of Obear-Nester Glass Company, The Missouri Athletic Club, Lerner Clothier and her most recent employment was School District 189. She was a dedicated worker as a teacher's-aide for more than twenty years before retiring. Her greatest joy was spending time with family and friends, sporting events, the Casino Queen and traveling to Stockton Calif. She was a devoted mother and cherished her grandchildren, all of whom referred to her as "Gam." She will be sadly missed but never forgotten.

Ruby Stovall was preceded in death by her husband, Collier Stovall; parents, John Fred and Regulator Lampley; brothers, Sanfus, Jim and Daniel Lampley; sisters, Willie Mae Gardner, Alena Stennis and Mamie Reeves.

Surviving are her children, Ronald Stovall of East St. Louis Ill., Vivian Young of Stockton Calif., Don Stovall of East St. Louis Ill., and Anthony (Pam)Stovall Sr. of Stockton Calif.; her sister, Nadine (Melvin) Jones of St. Louis Mo.; sisters-in-law, Margaret (Jim) Lampley of East St. Louis Ill., and Josephine (Sanfus) Lampley of Fairview Heights Ill.; grandchildren, DaRond, Dante, Deanna, Riley Brandon, Ryan, Carla, Crystal, and Anthony Jr.; great-grandchildren, Josiah, Saniah and Zayden; as well as many cousins, nieces, and nephews.

Visitation: Friends may call from 6 to 8 p.m. Thursday, Feb. 27, 2014, at Truelight Baptist Church, 1535 Tudor Ave., East St. Louis, Ill.

Funeral: In celebration of her life, services will be held at 11 a.m. Friday Feb. 28, 2014, at at the church with eulogy by Anthony Stovall Sr. Burial will follow at Jefferson Barracks National Cemetery, in St. Louis Mo.

To the entire family of Mrs Ruby Stovall, I would like to say to you that your love one is gone but she will always be with you in your heart and your memories. Don, we know how close you were with your mother and you are going to miss her dearly but these are the times when you let family and friends help you get through your loss. I'm here if you need me.
