Ruth Viviano

Ruth J. Viviano, nee Lindsey, 83, of Maryville, Ill., born Oct. 18, 1928, in St. Louis, Mo., died at 8:50 p.m. on Saturday, March 31, 2012, in Maryville, Ill.

Ruth was a loving mother, grandmother and great-grandmother. Mrs. Viviano and husband, Gus, were the owner and operator of Viviano "Tom Boy" Grocery in Collinsville, Ill. She belonged to Ss. Peter and Paul Catholic Church in Collinsville, Ill. She will be dearly missed by all who knew her.

She was preceded in death by her husband, August "Gus" Viviano; parents, Harry and Edith, nee Spencer, Lindsey; brothers and sisters, Wanda King, Lois Cassaday, Harry Lindsey, Bob Lindsey, Cyril Lindsey; and two grandsons, Jacob Viviano and Michael Viviano.

Surviving are her children, Phyllis Viviano of Tama, Iowa, Vito "Sonny" (Danette) Viviano of Maryville, Ill., August "Gus" (Robin) Viviano Jr., of Pacific, Mo., Michael Viviano of Collinsville, Ill., Tom (Diana) Viviano of Springfield, Mo., Patty (Bob) Wright of Maryville, Ill., and Angie (Russ) Sebastian of Collinsville, Ill.; 18 grandchildren; and nine great-grandchildren.

Memorials may be made in the form of Masses to Ss. Peter and Paul Catholic Church, to the American Diabetes Association, American Heart Association or SSM Hospice. Condolences may be expressed to the family online at www.herrfuneral.com.

Visitation: Friends may call from 4 to 8 p.m. Thursday, April 5, 2012, at Herr Funeral Home in Collinsville, Ill.

Funeral: Funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. Friday, April 6, 2012, at Ss. Peter and Paul Catholic Church in Collinsville, Ill., with Father John Beveridge officiating. Interment in Jefferson Barracks National Cemetery, St. Louis, Mo.

So sorry for your loss, Viviano family. I loved spending time in St. Louis with Janellen. And I'll never forget the awesome sandwiches made in Grandma's kitchen (seriously, I'm quite certain I could buy all the same ingredients and they wouldn't taste that good!). Much love.
