Scott Meyer Obituary

Scott Meyer
August 3, 1955 - February 23, 2021
Columbia, Illinois - Scott B. Meyer, 65 years old , of Columbia, IL, passed away on February 23, 2021. He was born August 3, 1955, in Mason City, IL. He was the son of the late Russell, and Linda, nee Zoril, Meyer.
Scott was a well known and respected attorney in the metro east area for over 35 years. He was truly an accomplished man. He took pride in all aspects of his life. Whether it was in his legal career, as a father, family member or friend, he was always helpful and respectful. Scott loved the outdoors from little on and it never stopped. He was always outside doing something. He loved sports and took the greatest joy helping his boys through their athletic youths. He was a rock to so many and to say his loss will be felt, is an understatement. He truly was the most authentic human being and was a rarity to anyone who knew him. A kind soul to many. God gained an exquisite soul the day he went home.
Surviving are his sons, Blake Meyer, Brett Meyer, Brian Meyer, and Bradley Meyer; former wife, Elizabeth Meyer; brother, Steve (Kris) Meyer; sister, Diane (Larry) Vandyke; nephews, Seth Vandyke, and Jeff Meyer; niece, Kaitlin (Adam) Barnett, along with other relatives and friends.
He was also preceded in death by his brother, Todd Meyer.
Memorial visitation will be held on Saturday, March 6, 2021, 11:00 am - 2:00 pm, at Leesman Funeral Home, 218 S. Metter Ave., Columbia, IL. A Memorial Service will follow the visitation at 2:00 pm, with Pastor Jamey Bridges, officiating.
In lieu of customary remembrances, the family requests with gratitude that memorial contributions be directed to: The charity of the donor's choice. For more information, please access our website, www.leesmanfuneralhome.com. Leesman Funeral Home, Columbia, IL, handled arrangements.

Hard to believe it's now been just over 4 months my friend. I miss you just about everyday. I find myself in the area almost daily and half those times I head toward your office to fill you in on life. I then have to stop... I hope you are at peace Scott. You by far are the best friend anyone could ever have. A true good soul. I hope they have FS where you're at up there. Love You brother.

Scott was an amazing man. He helped me get through some of the darkest times I've ever faced. He was so easy to talk to, such an amazing fortress of knowledge, and always transparent and genuine. I've cried several times today after learning of his passing. May God keep and protect his family as they endure this loss.

My husband and I were so sad this past week when we learned of Scott’s death. We met years ago when he was at Rick Reid’s office and I worked next door.

I have seen him a handful of times over the last 30 years since then. He was always happy to see me and take the time to talk to catch up. Still one of the nicest men you will ever meet.

I will pray for all of you and this tremendous loss you are facing.

I got to know Scott through the practice of law. Often ran into him in at the courthouses. He was always so nice, respectful and kind. I am so sorry for his family and loved ones. We will miss him in the legal community.
