Dear Family of Shorty,
We just learned of Shorty's death today as another salesman came to our shop doing his route. We both find it very, very hard to believe the news. Shorty always brightened our day - he has to be one of the kindest, most selfless people we have ever had the pleasure of doing business with. It is hard to believe we will not be seeing him again, or hear one of his jokes. He always spoke of his great family & was so proud of his boys. we hope one day we can meet you all.

Michelle, Chris, Cory, Uncle Jim, Aunt Eileen, and all of the family,

Some of the best memories I will ever have star Shorty. I was the runt-cousin at Kentucky Lake that he could convince to do anything, and he didn't let the opportunity go by. I was always trying to figure out what was so funny...and when the light went on, it was almost always a great little clue about life...or at least girls. He couldn't ask for a better kid (sucker) to get him an introduction. I couldn't ask for a cooler, funnier, or warmer, "big-cousin".

Those memories and more are like diamonds in my pocket.

We are all better for knowing Shorty.

My sad heart goes out to all of you. I hope you will soon find your peace with his passing on.

Michelle and the Renner Family,

Please accept my sympathy for the loss of Shorty. I actually have not kept in contact since Danny (Boomer) and I were in school together at St. Mary's, well over 40 years ago, but hearing the news of Shorty brought back many great memories. Shorty was like a big brother and like his parents, welcomed me into their home and always made me a part of the Renner family.

Michelle, Chris & Cory

My deepest sympathy to you and the entire Renner family. The world was a much brighter place with Shorty. From grade school, the old days at Westhaven, Tuesday nights at Yorktown, the tournaments at Red Bud....Though a cloud passes over us now, the sunshine will return as we fondly remember a friend whose smile helped renew our own.

Great memories with Shorty at The Drakes

Michelle, Chris & Cory,
Shorty touched many lives with his
infectious smile, and endless jokes.
He had a heart the size of the Grand
Canyon, and was the true definition of a loving father, a wonderful friend, and a gentleman.
I can still picture him scanning the skies at the North end of the hunting blind...a spot that will forever hold his memory.
I'm lucky to have shared so many waterfowl seasons with him.
Our thoughts and prayers are with you, and the extended Renner family.
We will miss him dearly.

Dear Michelle, Chris & Cory,
It's been over 30 years ago I last visited with many of my friends from the days at BAC and Friday's (Duncan's)tavern but the memories seem like yesterday. The concept of 6 degrees applies well beyond many families and generations. Friends like Shorty, brother Jim, Marcia (Mace) Weilbacher, Wally Latinette, Jeff Arndt, Chuck Renner, the list just goes on and the close friends of those fun filled days made many of us like one large family in the early to mid '70's. Wally Latinette's comment "simpler times" was so true. Shorty was one of the many gentlemen from that family....his smile and happy disposition stuck with you and that's one of the first things I thought of when my mother called with the news. Although I've been gone from my home town my memories of friends and growing up there are still very dear to my heart. My mother, Patti Griffith Glatthaar, friends of Shorty's father, Jim and Jim's brother, Tom and Joan, sends her sincerest condolences and her love. I wanted to share with you Michelle and your boys, Shorty was one in a million. He was like an older brother when all of us were together as a group. We send our prayers for each of you and all of the Renner family.

I was so shocked to learn of your loss!! The few times I have had opportunity to be in the presence of his contageous smile, it will never be forgotten. From the "old days" at Belleville Advertising, beers on the streets of Belleville or seeing him in the auto business he certainly had a talent of warming up a room. Last time I had the opportuity to be with Shorty was possibly 5 years ago. We had laughs and swapped some old stories.
Please accept my deepest sympathy to his entire family. .....and thanks for sharing Shorty with me.

Dear Michelle,

Please accept my sincere sympathy for the irreplaceable loss to you and your family. I remember the first time Chuck and I walked down to his cousins' house and I met Shorty for the first time. We were about 8 years old.

The thing I remember most is the smile (and yes, Lisa, there was a bit of mischief in that smile). As life goes on, people drift in and out of each other's lives, but no matter how many years passed between those childhood days, the high school parties, the softball teams and the occasional visits, the smile remained the same, and that smile was contagious. I can't remember a time that we weren't both smiling when we happened to meet. I know we were always genuinely happy to see each other.

I will miss you, Shorty, but I know that every time I remember you it will bring a smile to my face.

Sincerely,

Wally Latinette

Sorry to hear that we lost Shorty. He was always good for a laugh, as he always had that twinkle in his eye. Thinking of him took me back to days of hanging out in Fridays, and playing TAC basketball. We were teammates on the DERELICTS team that Shorty got together , and we won the teenage center championship one year. Surely a much simpler time. God bless his family, as I know he will be missed.
