Terry Johnson Obituary

Terry Leo Johnson

September 12, 1941 - January 29, 2024

Belleville, Illinois - Terry Leo Johnson, 82, passed away on Jan 29, 2024, at Shiloh Memorial Hospital. He was born Sep 12, 1941, in Vandalia, IL, and grew up in Decatur, IL. He was an army veteran, and served 4 years, followed by incredibly diverse careers, including Sunday School teacher, taxi driver, realtor, bouncer, bartender, truck driver for Bulkmatic & Mclean Trucking, and retired as a school bus driver for First Student.

Terry devoted 44 wonderful years to wife Linda (Eads), and they resided in Belleville, IL, from 1990 to 2024. He was a loving father, doting grandfather, and a die-hard Cubs, Bears, & Illini fan. He enjoyed his dogs, yard time, laughter with neighbors, and watching neighborhood children play from his porch swing. Terry & Linda were members of Belleville/Swansea Moose Lodge 1221.

Survived by wife, Linda; sister Kathy Jones of St. Charles IL; children Sherry Johnson of Covington GA, Laura (Scott) Harrison of Decatur IL, and C.T. (Pam) Taylor of Pace FL; grandchildren Lindsey (Steven) Kirk of Oreana IL, and Justin (Amy) Dorminey of Covington GA; great-granddaughter Hannah of Covington GA, & a community of wonderful friends who will miss him dearly.

Honoring Terry's request, there will be no services. Condolences can be sent to wife Linda Johnson at 4751 East Hayden Drive, Decatur, IL, 62521

Terry was an amazing neighbor and friend. We never saw him without a smile on his face. He always asked about my wife, our daughter, or myself.
Terry loved to stop and chat when him and Linda were coming home from the moose after getting dinner.
We had many good times in his and Linda´s cul de sac and he did love that porch swing.
What a great guy!
