Wilbert Ehlers

Wilbert E. Ehlers, 86, of Campbell Hill, Ill., birb Nat 20, 1924, in Campbell Hill, Ill., passed away at 12:12 p.m. Friday, May 6, 2011, at Coulterville Care Center in Coulterville, Ill.

Mr. Ehlers was a retired carpenter and was also the former mayor of Campbell Hill and maintenance man for the village. Wilbert was a member of St. Luke's Lutheran Church, Campbell Hill but he attended the First Christian Church in Pinckneyville, Ill. He was also a member of the Carpenters Union in Chester, Ill.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Ernest F. Ehlers and Clara, nee Hornbostel, Ehlers; two brothers; one sister; and one step grandchild.

Surviving are his wife, Grace, nee Craig, Ehlers of Campbell Hill, Ill., whom he married on Jan. 24, 1948, in Campbell Hill, Ill.; children, Wilbert Dean and Billie Ehlers of Swansea, Ill., Carolyn and Charles Dinkins of Pinckneyville, Ill., and Gary and Earleen Ehlers of Waterloo, Ill.; three grandchildren; eight step grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; five step great-grandchildren; brothers, Ernest (Katherine) Ehlers of Campbell Hill, Ill., Garrett Roy (Pat) Ehlers of Campbell Hill, Ill., Ray (Alice) Ehlers of Campbell Hill, Ill., Melvin (Meredith) Ehlers of Campbell Hill, Ill.; sisters, Helen (Edgar) Wilson of Chester, Ill., and Pauline Welty of Sparta, Ill.

Visitation: Friends may call from 5 to 8 p.m. Monday, May 9, 2011, and from 7:30 to 11 a.m. Tuesday, May 10, 2011, at Wilson's Funeral Home in Ava, Ill.

Funeral: Services will be held at 11 a.m. Tuesday, May 10, 2011, at the funeral home with the Rev. Jeff Tucker officiating. Burial will be at Calvary Cemetery in Campbell Hill, Ill.
