William Hollis

William Jefferson "Bill" Hollis, 95, of Collinsville, Ill., born August 22, 1922 in Savoy, Tex., went peacefully to be with the love of his life on Friday, May 4, 2018 at Memorial Hospital, Belleville, Ill.

Bill was a retired United States Army World War II and Korean War Veteran.

He was preceded in death by his wife of 60 years, Marvline I. Hollis, nee Howard, whom he married November 17, 1951 in Piggott, Ark., and who died January 11, 2012; his parents, Thomas Jefferson and Ruby Atlanta, nee Hodge, Hollis; brothers and sister, J R Hollis, Mary Frances Skidmore, Robert Johnston Hollis and Thomas Jackson Hollis.

Surviving are two nephews, James (Linda) Hanke of Edwardsville, Ill., and Larry (Sherri) Howard of Sevierville, Tenn.; a niece, Karen (Jerry) Masters of Union, Mo.; numerous great nieces and nephews; and a sister-in- law, Anita Hollis of Calif. He was a very special uncle to many.

Visitation: Friends may call from 4 to 8 p.m., Thursday, May 10, 2018, at Herbert A. Kassly Funeral Home, Collinsville, Ill.

Funeral: Funeral service will be held at 11 a.m., Friday, May 11, 2018, at Herbert A. Kassly Funeral Home, Collinsville, Ill., with Rev. Ron Habermehl officiating. Interment with full military honors will be in Jefferson Barracks National Cemetery, St. Louis, Mo.
