Angela Montes

Angela Montes, age 54, died peacefully on June 4, 2013 holding the hand of her daughter, Nicci Stewardson, her best friend. Angela was born in Guelph, Ontario on December 29, 1958 and made Lynden, WA her home for the past 10 years. As a young woman, she was considered one of the most talented Highland Dancers. Her greatest achievement was winning the "Edinburgh Medal" for two consecutive years, as well as numerous other awards at prestigious Highland Dance competitions. She was a caring, loving and generous mom, daughter and grandmother. She was intelligent, yet humble; a talented artist, an impressive craftsman, and a fantastic friend. She was always positive no matter how hard her battle with cancer got. Angela was always there to cheer on her grandkids at every sporting event, concert, competition and tournament they participated in. She will be remembered, and greatly missed, by everyone who was lucky to know her. She is preceded in death by her mother, Elizabeth Bishop. She is survived by her father, Sinclair Bishop; her brother, Paul Bishop; her daughter, Nicole Stewardson (Craig); her son Thomas Montes; and her two grandchildren, Liam and Duncan. Her memorial will be held on June 30 from 2:00-6:00 at the Bellingham Elks Lodge. Everyone who knew her is welcome. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made in her honor at St. Joseph's Cancer Center, Whatcom Hospice, or Stand up to Cancer.
