Barbara Anderson Obituary

Barbara J. Anderson

April 19, 1931 - September 15, 2025

Bellingham, Washington - Barbara June (Loomer) Anderson, 94, passed away peacefully on September 15, 2025, at Mt. Baker Care Center in Bellingham, WA. She was born on April 19, 1931, at St. Luke's General Hospital to Kenneth and Bernice (Knutsen) Loomer, the eldest of four children.

Barbara grew up in Bellingham, attending Sunnyland and North Bellingham Grade Schools, Alexander Jr. High, and graduating from Ferndale High School in 1949, where she was Student Body Treasurer and active in sports. She later began training at St. Luke's Hospital School of Nursing.

She met Robert "Bob" Anderson in seventh grade, and the two married on September 16, 1950. Together they raised their son, Cary, and built a life rooted in Whatcom County. Barbara worked for Dr. Hugh Trimingham, Kelstrup Realty, and in admissions at the newly opened St. Joseph Emergency Department.

Barbara was a talented seamstress, rug hooker, cook, and gardener. She and Bob built a rustic log cabin on Lake Bonaparte near Kamloops, BC, where many of their happiest memories were shared there with dear friends Bob and Jennette Stevens. She and Bob enjoyed exploring Mexico in their RV, and wintering in Mesa, AZ for over 13 years.

She was preceded in death by her husband Bob; and her three siblings. She is survived by her son, Cary (Janie) Anderson; grandchildren Tyler (Caron) Anderson, Trevor Anderson (Desiree), and Amy (Eric) Ellenz; and great-grandchildren, Maya, Chase, Cash, and Barrett.

A memorial service will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Wednesday, September 24, at Christ the Servant Lutheran Church (2600 Lakeway Dr. Bellingham).

Memorials may be made to Christ the Servant Lutheran Church or Whatcom Hospice Foundation.

Yesterday

Barb and I crossed paths many times in our lives. Her sister, Margie, was in my brother's class at FHS; our mothers were friends; I worked at Kelstrup Real Estate when she was selling there. She was such a classy, friendly & energetic lady with a passion for life. She will be missed.
