Cecily Meehan Obituary

Cecily Meehan

November 12, 1930 - September 11, 2025

Bellingham, Washington - Cecily Warren Tredinnick Meehan passed away peacefully Thursday, September 11, 2025, at PeaceHealth Hospice House in Bellingham, WA, at the age of 94.

Born and raised in Wakefield, Massachusetts, she was the youngest daughter of Frank A. and Mary Louise (Hutchinson) Tredinnick and a graduate of Boston University College of Music. She was the widow of David B. Meehan, whom she married in 1953. While making their home in Washington, DC she taught elementary school music in Maryland and also attended the University of Maryland. As an Air Force wife, she traveled extensively with her husband while he was stationed abroad. Returning to Massachusetts she and her husband lived in Manchester-by-the-Sea where she worked for many years at the Manchester Public Library. Retiring to Santa Rosa, CA, she was a volunteer at Santa Rosa Memorial Hospital.

In 2001 she and her husband moved to Bellingham, WA, to explore and enjoy the beautiful Pacific northwest. She continued her volunteer work at St. Joseph's Hospital in Bellingham. Cecily loved to travel the world with Rick Steves Tours, either with friends she had made or with her brother John. Her favorite stops were those to Cornwall, UK where they called on family members and visited ancestral homes and tallied their favorite pubs and brews. "There was never a good beer she didn't mind trying."

Cecily was a fine musician blessed with musical abilities few others have. She sang in St Paul's, Bellingham's chancel choir and played handbells there for many years. Her family will remember her for her love of music, her witty sense of humor, the many Roman emperor-named cats and her passion for TV westerns.

She was predeceased by her sister and two brothers. Her survivors are nieces, Leslie Verrier, Ellen Bowers, and Catherine McIvain, Massachusetts, Mary Winchester, Florida; nephews, John H. Tredinnick, Massachusetts, John C. Tredinnick and Alex Tredinnick, Florida; grandnephews, David Verrier, Massachusetts, and Jonathan Verrier, California; as well as family members in England and her many friends.

There will be a memorial service at St. Paul's Episcopal Church, 2117 Walnut St. Bellingham, WA at 3:00 p.m., Friday, September 19th.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the music fund of St Paul's Episcopal Church where she was a dedicated member or to Whatcom Hospice.

Yesterday

To a dear friend who never failed to give us a smiling face and a salty remark. Her sense-of-humor was terrific. We shall sincerely miss her a lot.
