Ecomae Baunach Obituary

Ecomae Baunach
September 5, 1923 - July 28, 2022
Bothell, Washington - "With all the serious things in life, it is important to include music, art and just plain fun!" wrote Ecomae to her grandson.
Ecomae Taylor Baunach lived her nearly 99 years by these words. She was a mother of four, grandmother of seven, and great-grandmother of eight. She passed on July 28th, 2022 and was preceded in death by her husband, Robert Charles Baunach.
Born September 5th, 1923 to Echo May Walling, a jazz pianist, and James Taylor. She grew up in Whatcom County and on the island of O'ahu. She was thankful for the early years she spent with her Grandma Susan Walling.
Ecomae loved to sing, write, illustrate, dance and spend time with all the generations of her family. Bob and Ecomae were a vibrant couple who modeled and did commercials. She was an extra in the movie Sleepless in Seattle. They first met at the Ferndale roller rink. Her requirements for Bob before they could date were to buy a better car than his Model A and learn to dance. They would dance together, well into their 80's.
Her entrepreneurial spirit flourished with designing a line of doll clothing for sale in a local Bellingham department store, opening the first Merle Norman Cosmetic Studio in Bellingham, and managing a condominium in Hawaii.
Ecomae and Bob made their family home in Bellingham and when he retired, lived on Kauai for 27 years before moving to California then returning to Bellingham and finally moving to Bothell for their last years together.
If you ever spoke with her, you knew she had a keen interest in people and was a delightful conversationalist. Ecomae had a full life raising her children, running two business and cherishing time with her family and their friends. She built inter-generational relationships and strengthened every community she touched with her love of life.
Her family and friends will Celebrate this dynamic Couple's Life together in July 2023.

I was so sorry to read of Echomae's passing, but Heaven has just been blessed with an angel with a beautiful voice.
I loved to listen to Echomae sing at karaoke and always looked forward to a hug from her and Bob. They were such a wonderful couple.
Echomae had a good heart and always wished the best for everyone. She always made sure you knew you mattered.
My condolences to her family, she was an amazing human being and will always be remembered fondly.

So sorry to hear of Ecomaes's passing. Living across the street from the Baunach's I have so many good memories of both Bob and Eco. Eco enjoyed life like few do. She was a remarkable woman, way head of her time. Eco had the secret of life, and would share it with you, if you asked. When I was a teenager Eco once told me "When you meet someone, look them in the eye and shake hands like you mean it". Good advice that I never forgot.
