Joyce Baunach Obituary
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her sister, Betty Bernice Baunach.
She is survived by her brother, Kenneth (Rosemary) Baunach of Bardstown as well as 6 nieces and nephews and 24 great nieces and nephews.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be 11:00 am Tuesday, August 12, 2025, at St. Catherine of Alexandria Catholic Church. Interment will be in St. Thomas Church Cemetery. Visitation will be at Houghlin-Greenwell Funeral Home Monday, August 11, 2025, from 6:00-8:00 pm with evening prayers at 7:00 pm. Additional visitation will be Tuesday from 8:30-10:00 am. The Houghlin-Greenwell Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.

With loving memories and true friendship of more than 50 years, Jeanette Smith-Usher and family thanks God for the life of Joyce Baunach. I send condolences on behalf of my mom, Jeanette, who considered Ms. Baunach her best friend. They began their relationship as caseworker and client - a single parent of five children living in Chicago´s Cabrini Green in the early 70's. Through the years, and long after their client relationship, the two women, both born in 1941, cherished their friendship and talked on the phone weekly up until 2024 when Jeanette could no longer reach her friend by phone. After months of trying to reach Ms. Baunach, my mom assumed she had lost her friend. It is not until today, 11/29/25 that we became aware of her obituary. Joyce and Jeanette's friendship was an unlikely one - with the two being so different on the surface. But as the daughter of Jeanette I witnessed their friendship for nearly 54 of my 61 years. There was a special bond between two very special women. Rest with God, Ms. Baunach. We love you.
