Edward Davidson Obituary

Edward Franklyn Davidson

January 16, 1940 - October 9, 2025

Everson, Washington - Edward Franklyn Davidson (Frankie) was born to Roy Davidson Sr. and Elsie Crawford on January 16th, 1940, in Coquille Oregon.

Edward joined the Navy at age 18 and flew missions from Hawaii and Alaska during the cold war. In 1962 he left the Navy and moved to San Francisco where he met Georges Spunt, the celebrated writer and artist. Their partnership lasted until Georges' death in 1996. In San Francisco, he opened Edward Davidson Fine Arts, an elegant antiques business on Union Street focusing on Chinese Export Silver.

In 2000, Edward moved to Bellingham, Washington and began investing in residential real estate including a lovely Bed and Breakfast in a large Victorian mansion. He studied voice and joined the local theatre, landing starring roles in several productions including the lead role of the Mikado by Gilbert and Sullivan.

In 2005 Edward retired to a large house on six acres in the country where he continued a life-long passion of gardening and collecting. He built a sunken garden, two Japanese inspired gardens and a Greco-Roman statue garden which required the planting of more than two thousand trees. In his home was a collection of hundreds of books, antiques and 17th-19th century paintings.

Edward passed away peacefully on October 9th surrounded by his favorite books and paintings and holding his beloved dog. He is survived by his sister Judy, his niece Michelle and her brothers, and devoted caregiver Marc Belair.

Sorry to hear of Edward's passing and glad that he passed peacefully. Edward was a wonderful neighbor during the years he lived on South Hill in Bellingham. We have many fond memories of parties, bagpipes at midnight on New Year's Eve, kids playing pool upstairs, Edward practicing his opera roles in the backyard, enjoying the Mt Baker's Girls Choir singing WWII songs in the library and, of course, Cadeshaw barking hello as we walked by. Peaceful journey, Edward, and many blessings. Djuna, Rollin, and Daria Harper

Edward will always have a special place in my heart. Such a brilliant, elegant, funny and hospitable man! His knowledge of art and antiques was unmatched. He adored his cats, dogs and friends. I loved his homes and the gardens he created, collecting old things and repurposing them in unexpected ways. His formal parties at Wardner's castle were legendary! On Halloween he gave out full size candy bars to kids brave enough to come up to the door. He helped me write a chapter in my book "Haunted Fairhaven", about that mansion. He said fervently he didn't believe in ghosts, but at times that house even got to him. If his spirit comes back to visit, I hope he visits us! We will always miss you... Taimi & Bill Gorman
