Inez Buren Obituary

Inez V. Van Buren passed away peacefully on Monday, November 12, 2012, in Belling -ham, Wash- ington. She was born April 11, 1922 on the family homestead in the log cabin that was used for the first school house on Pt. Agassiz, Alaska. Inez was born a twin, her brother Wilfred died at birth and was buried ½ mile from their home under a tree. The cross is there to this day.
Inez graduated from the Petersburg schools and went on to the University of Washington. During summer break she return- ed home and worked in the Petersburg fisheries. It was here that Inez met her wonderful husband Russell and they were married in Bellingham on January 16, 1942. She always felt so fortun- ate to have been able to spend the balance of her life in Whatcom County, enjoying the great West- ern out of doors.
Inez's faith was always an extremely important part of who she was. At a young age, her mother taught her how important it was to realize our body is the Holy Temple of God. How we should take care of ourselves and not abuse our bodies, for he lives within us. Faith was foremost in Inez's life and the past 20 years she attended Grace Baptist Church in Lynden, Washington.
Inez received much of her pleasure with paint- ing in oil and water colors and, the making of many cards of fellowship and love. She also enjoyed the growing of flowers and especially roses.
Inez was preceded in death, by her daughter, Dianne Van Buren and her devoted husband Russell K. Van Buren, mother and father, 3 brothers, and 2 sisters.
She is survived by son Russell C. (Penny) Van Buren, Bellingham, WA; and grandchildren, Kris, Naples, Florida; Kevin (Kelli), Milton, WA; Katie Van Buren, Woodinville, WA; and Jeralyn (George) Conard, Glen- haven, WA; and great-grandson David Conard and new great-grand- daughter, Hanna Marie Van Buren.
The family would like to thank the wonderful staff at Emeritus for all the care and love they showed mother this past year. Also Hospice for her care this past week. She loved the prayers and songs the Chaplin shared with her.
A private graveside service will be held at Greenacres on Novem- ber 27th, 2012. Memor- ials may be made to Grace Baptist Fellow- ship, 338 N. Park St., Lynden, WA 98264 or Whatcom Hospice, 2806 Douglas Ave., Belling- ham, WA 98225.

I am happy to have gotten to meet my Aunt Inez several times over the last 50 years and particulatly 2 summers ago, when we were able to discuss our Swanson family history and share photographs and stories of the pioneer days. We will miss her and take comfort in knowing she is with her dear husband Russell again.

We have known Inez for forty years. She was a dear friend and prayed for our family, as did Russ. We will miss her presence in our lives. She is now with her Lord and Savior for eternity. Our prayers are for Clayton, Penny and the family, that they would know God's peace and comfort.
