Jim and I became friends in Junior High School when my family moved to Bellingham. He and I shared many interests: photography, radio, and tennis. Together we learned how to develop film and make prints. We both learned Morse code and became amateur radio operators. We practiced making tennis strokes, first at Fairhaven Park and later at WWSU. Jim and I were both on the tennis team at Bellingham High School, and we often practiced against each other. Jim and I were in many classes together; he was always an academic inspiration to me. Upon graduation from BHS, we went in different directions. However, we reconnected again when Jim moved back to Bellingham and I returned to visit. We saw each other only occasionally in our adult years, but those occasions were happy moments. I will always remember Jim for his friendship, his good humor, and his intellect.

Dr. Ross was our family physician and always met us with a smile and good advice. Most importantly he took the time to listen. Thank you for your compassion. Phyllis and Larry Kiehn

He was a great doctor. He was very understanding and made you feel good when you left your appointment. His advice was always right on. Best doctor I ever had.

Our daughter was Jim's first newborn patient. Jeannie was our childbirth instructor for our son and then Jim came to the hospital at 2:30 am to deliver our son. When things began to go badly his calmness and competence was so reassuring as he said, Let's have this baby right now. He knew just what to do and soon we had a healthy baby. Jim was our family doctor until the day he retired; we felt very blessed. Our deepest sympathy to all the children and grandchildren.

I believe I met Jim when I was 4 years old. Went thru Elementary, Junior High and High School with Jim. He was kind, most intelligent, gentle and caring. I'm sorry I haven't seen him for years. The community has lost a great one! The family is in my prayers.

To Jim's family, my deep felt condolences. Jim was such a fun personality to have as my doctor and a friend. My wife and I held both your parents in very high deserved regard.

Oh, what a loss! I am grateful for knowing Jim and have many fond remembrances of his ribs and many rib stories, along with deliveries of numerous babies and care of moms and newborns in the Childbirth Center at St. Joseph's Maternity ward. He always had a smile and story to share and I only comforted knowing him and dear Jean are once again, reunited in peace and love. Thoughts go out to you, the family remaining, as you were talked about so much and I know, greatly loved and blessed with so much. May your memories carry you forever into eternity and the blessings of their legacy never leave your hearts. RIP Jim! Give Jeanne a big hug for me...
