I knew him as a fellow fisherman and good friend in Cordova Ak. I hoped to meet up with him again someday but sadly that won't happen in this life.

Never a dull moment with Jay around. He was always up to something, and keeping everyone on their toes. He was such a fun uncle to have around enriching my childhood with laughs, fun memories, and the BEST stories!
I´ll miss you, UJay.

Jay was the best friend I've had since I moved up here from Texas almost twenty years ago. The picture is perfect for this occasion , there was light in his face, he cared about others, was a truly trustworthy person and was always true to his word. ALWAYS. A very good person through and through, had an upbeat attitude and livened up things everywhere he went, particularly where I first met him where I played pool in 2017, where he was popular with everyone including the Staff. I could be in the back of the pool room practicing my pool game and I'd know he was there, even came in one day riding his scooter around, lights on and beeping it's horn with his cue tucked under his arm. Anyone else could not do this and not be stopped but he wasn't bothering others, in fact it lightened up the mood across the room, lots of laughs and smiles. That's what he gave, as much as he could, never a dull moment, if "JayBob" was there you knew it, and as much as I like practicing by myself I always like seeing him show up with his pool cue. That'll be missed for a long time. I won't forget 'JayBob' or ever not miss the guy, he was truly a very good friend, very good person and I won't forget being on Vancouver Island spending last Christmas with my daughter, her Mom and my grandsons when out of the blue I got a call from him.I was totally surprised and listened to his weak voice while we talked, and before the call ended there was pain in his voice but still a sense of hope in the air that he would make it through these problems. That's the face in this obituary, looking up positively with a smile and light on his face. He could be ornery at times but that too will be missed. Peaceful journey to you my good friend, rack 'em up.

From the time Jay and his posse of friends blew into town over 40 years ago from Madtown, Wisconsin, Bellingham and the commercial fishing community gained a lot of color. Many of us became great enduring friends with Jay because of his outgoing and lively personality. I have many probably hard to believe stories about close calls at sea involving Jay as well as a lot of funny ones on shore. Jay you have enriched the lives of my family and I. Thank good friend!

Jay - I have known you almost my entire life from the time you and Kenny became best friends in 7th grade up until recently when we messaged each other on Facebook. I will never forget your beautiful, infectious smile and that devilish twinkle in your eye. You were one of the kindest most gentle-natured people I have had the pleasure of knowing. It´s nice to know you, Ken, Greg, Scott and your family will be together again. You will be missed.
