Juanita Wyman-Goodman Obituary
Juanita Golden Wyman-Goodman
September 23, 2025
Bellingham, Washington - Juanita Goodman, aged 90, went to be with her Lord and Savior on September 23, 2025, with family by her side.
Juanita was born in Kalispell, Montana. In her early years, the family relocated to Fontana, California for work. However, they kept their Montana roots strong by returning to the Polebridge family homestead each summer. The wilds of Northwest Montana provided adventures any child would dream of. There was fishing, hiking, rafting down the North Fork, riding horses, huckleberry picking, and more. In her teen years, Juanita worked at the nearby McFarland's Dude Ranch, where she met people from all over the world who came to enjoy Glacier National Park.
In 1960, Juanita married Lawrence Wyman. They moved to Blanchard, Washington, and soon settled in Alger. Together, they enjoyed a full life on the farm with their large family. They all worked hard raising animals, gardening, and canning. Juanita was known for her culinary skills, but even more for her pies. There was always a pie or two in her kitchen and at every social event she attended. Juanita would also make pies to sell at the Grange booth at the Skagit County Fair while still leading The Hare Raiser's 4-H club. She was a member of the Alger Women's Fire Auxiliary. With all the activities she was involved in and raising a family, she also worked alongside her husband at The Moore-Clark Company in LaConner.
In 1980, Lawrence passed away. Yet, through her faith and with support from family and friends, she endured. A few years later, she met and married Leonard Goodman. They resided at her family home in Alger until moving to Bellingham in 1997. Leonard passed away a short time later. Again, Juanita endured and made a full life in Bellingham. She enjoyed attending church, singing in the choir, traveling, creating art, senior center activities, and spending time with friends and family. Juanita always enjoyed a variety of card and board games, but her favorite was Bridge; the game she learned from her dad. She coordinated and hosted three bridge tables weekly at her home, in addition to at least two other days with a few friends. Playing Bridge gave her joy, purpose, and very special friendships.
In her last days, Juanita reflected on family. She said, "I have a lot of family. I love them all so much. Every one of them!" She will be loved and missed by each one of them!
She is survived by her sister, Iola Mason and brother, Gene Hensen. Also, her daughter-in-law Tinja Wyman, her son and daughter-in-law, Brad and Janet Wyman; her daughters, Tami Strickland (David), Theresa Wyman, Toni Rasmussen; daughter-in-law Sue Wyman; and stepdaughters Lynn Shelton (Bruce) and Lillian Megard (Gene). As well as 18 Grandchildren; numerous great grandchildren; and nieces and nephews.
Juanita was preceded in death by her parents, Ben and Ann Hensen; her husbands, Lawrence Wyman and Leonard Goodman; sons, Tommy Koontz, Randy Wyman, and Mark Wyman. Grandson Jonathan Rasmussen; great-grandson, Thor Knutzen; and son-in-law, Neil Rasmussen.
A celebration of life will be held on October 18, 1 p.m. at Trinity Lutheran Church, 119 Texas St., Bellingham, WA. A reception will follow.
Memorials are suggested to the Burlington-Edison Alumni Foundation (B-EAF), PO Box 350, Burlington, WA 98233. Please include "Thor Knutzen" on the note line of your donation.
