Katherine Fast

Katherine Schroeder Fast, age 89, went home to her Heavenly Father on Friday, December 24, 2010 to celebrate Jesus' birthday. She was born in Hydro, Montana to Peter J. and Maria (Duerksen) Schroeder on September 14, 1921. The family moved to Deer Park, WA when she was 14. Katherine married Frank E. Fast on April 16, 1939 in Deer Park. They enjoyed 67 1/2 years together. Katherine's heart's desire was that all her children and their family members would know and serve her Lord and Savior. Those who will miss her the most are her three sons, Frank and Carolyn of Omaha, NE, Cliff and Jane of Lynden, Don and Elsie of O'Neill, NE. ; six daughters, Vivian and Steve Roberts of Lynden, Agnes and Orval Thiessen of Peabody, KS, Chris and Jim Sorensen of Bellingham, Frieda and Butch Koehn of San Angelo, TX, Betty and Bud Martinson of Lynden and Kathy Pretzel of Blaine; 28 grandchildren, 60 great grandchildren and 7 great-great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband Frank, an infant daughter, Mary Kay, one great grandson, Brock Gregory, her parents, her 2 sisters and 2 brothers. Visitation hours will be Sunday, January 2, 3 to 5 pm at Gillies Funeral Home. Memorial services will be held at Faith Reformed Church in Lynden on Monday, January 3, 2011, at 11:00 A.M. with the burial preceding in Monumenta Cemetery at 10:00 A.M. We wish to thank the staff and nurses at Lynden Manor and at the Lynden Christian Care Center for the loving care they gave our dear mother.
