Still miss you, Lynette. Roman thinks of you every time we see a dragon or a purple flower. Hope you´re up there enjoying the view.

I'll never forget the phone call from a lady responding to a postcard advertisement I had pinned to the bulletin board at Fred Meyer's. It was Lynette and she was eager to join my sign language classes. this phone call lead to a wonderful friendship and a force adoption as Honorary cousins

Lynette loved sign language and was eager to share ABC cards and sign language books with everyone she met. I think she handed out more alphabet cards than I did in all my years of teaching combined. She loved to sign and tease Roman. He loved it right back. I giggle when I recall her telling how she would be practicing her signing of songs while driving the car and how passengers would shout two hands on the wheel! As she signed hallelujah as part of a song.

The last two years, led to many phone calls as I was no longer able to teach sign language. We would share jokes and I would talk her through some signs. On occasions when we were able to go out to lunch she would proudly introduce me as her sign language teacher.

Lynette was Romans number one fan of his jewelry. I lost count of how many pairs of earrings she bought from him. He was always excited to find a new shade of purple or a dragon to create something new for her to wear. Just today, I was caring around the portable jewelry display box that she proudly drug around to many lunch dates selling Romans wares.

Soon after Lynette was diagnosed with cancer, Roman and I had the honor of going to her home and helping decorate for Christmas. I think she knew that she needed to have that tree up when we did in order to enjoy it. It was one of the hardest things I've ever asked Roman to do. We found the strength to face hIs fears of death and sickness by knowing we were bringing a bit of happiness into her life. On our last visit, we brought a small framed picture of Jesus his hand with a nail print and his palm. He was signing I love you. Roman wrote on the back of the picture Jesus love you as and I do too She cradled that picture in her arms for entire visit. There was a calm smile on her face whenever she would glance at it.

Roman and I will miss her very much. I can't count how many times in the past few weeks I have reached for my phone to give her a call to tell her a silly joke in order to hear her laugh.

I firmly believe we will see Lynette again. She will introduce me as her sign language teacher. I will Tell her a silly joke as I give her a huge hug while I watch her give Roman a pinch and a squeeze.

Ma'am, yes ma'am-what a fun day that will be.
Thank you for being such an important part of our lives.

Love
Kim and Roman
