Paul L Anderson, age 85 passed away at home on February 14, 2011. He was born March 24, 1925 in Olds Alberta to William & Ruth (Martin) Anderson. Paul grew up in Ferndale and at the age of 17 joined the U.S. Navy. He was in the submarine service during world War II. His sub, the U.S.S S-46 conducted war patrols near the Kuril Islands. These patrols were seeking vessels of the Imperial Japanese Navy supplying a base on Parsmushiru Island. After the war he took up carpentry and joined Carpenters Local #756. In 1947 Paul married the love of his life, Emma Laslo. They moved to Provo Utah for a short time before returning to Bellingham. Paul worked on Ross Dam and many of the major industrial facilities and commercial buildings in Whatcom County. He had the opportunity to work with Lynn Gilbert, Jesse Kenoyer, Gilbert Brehm and may other great carpenters and trades people during his career. He strived to satisfy all his clients by giving them a home he would want for himself. He lived in the home he built for 48 years. He partnered with his son Steve who carried on as Steve Anderson Construction Inc. Paul enjoyed spending time camping & fishing with his family. He especially loved to visit friends and relatives. He was able to trailer his Airstream to California and Arizona during the winter months. He had a winter home in Yuma Arizona and a park full of friends. He's survived by his bride of 63 years, Emma; his children: Steve Anderson, Danny Anderson & Wayne Anderson; 8 grandchildren; 4 great grandchildren; his sister Mae (George) Wemp; and his brother Robert (Barbara)Anderson. The family would like to thank Whatcom Hospice for the support, care and love that allowed him to remain at home with family until his death on Valentines Day.
