Richard Langabeer Obituary
March 28, 1943 - April 7, 2025
Blaine, Washington - Richard Jameson Langabeer, 82, passed away peacefully at home in Birch Bay on April 7, 2025, surrounded by family. Born in Seattle to Kent and Margaret Langabeer, Richard lived a life marked by integrity, deep love, and joyful connection. He earned his law degree from Gonzaga after graduating from the University of Washington-forever a proud Husky-and married the love of his life, Jacqueline "Jacqui" Oves, in 1965. For nearly five decades, Richard practiced law across Whatcom and Skagit Counties, building a reputation for compassion, trust, and steadfast service to his community.
Richard's greatest joy came from being a husband, father, and grandfather. He thrived in the natural beauty of the Pacific Northwest-sailing the San Juans, digging clams with family in Birch Bay, and cheering on his Huskies every fall. Whether cooking a feast from his garden, captaining his boat, or tossing a ball for his dog Callie, Richard filled his life and those around him with warmth, laughter, and boundless generosity.
He is survived by his wife of 60 years, Jacqui Langabeer; son Jamie (Aimee); daughter Brenna (Erik); and grandchildren Carter and Audrey. A celebration of life will be held privately. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests donations to PeaceHealth Whatcom Hospice in Richard's memory.
