Russell Rodriguez Obituary

Russell T. Rodriguez passed away suddenly Saturday November 10th after a long battle with addiction. After overcoming his addiction he gave in to the urge one last time and that is when God took his hand and led him home. He was born September 12, 1967 in San Antonio, TX. Russ is survived by his wife Lori, daughters Sherry (Daniel) Welch, Elizabeth (Vassily Lysikov) Wilson and Sarah (Steven Morgan) Wilson, grandchildren Summer Morgan and Matthew Lysikov as well as his beloved black lab Trina. He is also survived by his mother-in-law Imogene Wilson, mom Betty (Bob Rehder) Young, sisters Dayle (Mike) Hudson, Marcie (Brian) Johnson, brothers Benny Rodriguez, Justin (Lela) Young, William (Savanah Morgan) Young and Nick Young and various nieces and nephews. He is preceded in death by his dad Benito Rodriguez, nephew Curtis Brock and niece Nicole Rodriguez. Russ was such a fun person to be with; he could brighten up your day with his smile and contagious laugh. He will be greatly missed by every person that had been fortunate enough to have known him. We love you with all of our hearts Russ and the memories of you will help us continue on until we can all be together again. A memorial service will be held Sunday November 18th at 11:00 am at the Tillicum House in Pioneer Park in Ferndale.

To Rusty's family, I am so very sorry for your loss. I remember him as an "annoying kid brother" from when his sister Dayle and I hung out together. When I heard about his passing, I was very sad. My thoughts and prayers are with you all in this hard time.

My memories of Rusty (and Benny) are from many years ago as kids going to the skateing rink in Bellingham. That was long ago and time flies by though I will never forget that kid's smile and his laugh. Rusty left an impression that I will never forget.

I have not heard any of your names for almost 10 years but when I did they were spoke with kindness and love from a very special angel. Losing one so loved from someone else's addition will always be difficult. I wish your family peace and future good health.

To my dearest family, some things I'd like to say...
but first of all, to let you know, that I arrived okay.
I'm writing this from heaven. Here I dwell with God above.
Here, there's no more tears of sadness; here is just eternal love.

Please do not be unhappy just because I'm out of sight.
Remember that I'm with you every morning, noon and night.
That day I had to leave you when my life on earth was through,
God picked me up and hugged me and He said, "I welcome you."

It's good to have you back again; you were missed while you were gone.
As for your dearest family, they'll be here later on.
I need you here badly; you're part of my plan.
There's so much that we have to do, to help our mortal man."

God gave me a list of things, that he wished for me to do.
And foremost on the list, was to watch and care for you.
And when you lie in bed at night, the day's chores put to flight.
God and I are closest to you....in the middle of the night.

When you think of my life on earth, and all those loving years
because you are only human, they are bound to bring you tears.
But do not be afraid to cry; it does relieve the pain.
Remember there would be no flowers, unless there was some rain.

I wish that I could tell you all that God has planned.
But if I were to tell you, you wouldn't understand.
But one thing is for certain, though my life on earth is o'er.
I'm closer to you now, than I ever was before.

There are many rocky roads ahead of you and many hills to climb;
but together we can do it by taking one day at a time.
It was always my philosophy and I'd like it for you too...
that as you give unto the world, the world will give to you.

If you can help somebody who's in sorrow and pain,
then you can say to God at night......"My day was not in vain."
And now I am contented....that my life has been worthwhile,
knowing as I passed along the way, I made somebody smile.

So if you meet somebody who is sad and feeling low,
just lend a hand to pick him up, as on your way you go.
When you're walking down the street, and you've got me on your mind;
I'm walking in your footsteps only half a step behind.

And when it's time for you to go.... from that body to be free,
remember you're not going.....you're coming here to me.

Russ our family has known you alot of years and you have always made us laugh and smile with the silly things you would say or do. It will be really hard to mention Russ & Lori without you here, your names just go together. I will never forget when you and Lori took Sarah to Kindergarten and you had to leave the room because she was crying and you couldn't handle it, that just showed what type of man you were.
God bless you and your family, and try not to make God laugh too much or he won't be paying attention to our prayers.

Russ... It has been YEARS since I have talked to you or even seen you. It has actually been since Benny and I hung out, but just know that you are in my prayers, and have the angels save me a spot close to you! I can't think of a better fun loving person to sit next to. Until we meet again...
