Sally Yeager Obituary

Sally K. Yeager
July 4, 1937 - January 25, 2022
Bellingham, Washington - Sally K. Yeager, age 84, passed away peacefully at Whatcom Hospice House on January 25, 2022 in the loving presence of her nephew and two great-nieces. Sally was born on the 4th of July, 1937 to Ira and Marie Yeager. She grew up in her family's store - Yeager's Sporting Goods - where she would work until her retirement.
Sally was an incredible woman with a huge heart. She loved her family, friends, and all animals deeply, and she instantly became 'Aunt Sally' to everyone she met. A strong-willed woman who was extremely honest and straightforward, she knew her own mind and was never afraid to voice her opinion.
Sally's greatest passions were taking care of her family and friends; she was the glue that held the lives of those close to her together. She helped raise her nephews, Ira and Frank "Skip" Uhrig, and later Skip's daughters. When Skip was at work, she also took care of her great-nieces Marianne and Ellen, who were the loves of her life and continual sources of joy. Skip says he could never have made it without her. Aunt Sally was a continual blessing.
While her life was not unmarked by tragedy - the passing of her sister Marianne in her 30s left her two young nephews motherless - Sally's deep faith saw her through. She never missed a Sunday at church and regularly donated to struggling families whenever she could. Sally also donated her time to her loved ones, making weekly visits to any of those who were not able to drive and often taking them to lunch at their favorite restaurants.
Aunt Sally loved bowling, photography, and all animals - whether it was a wounded wild bird or one of her many pet dogs and cats she so adored. If she didn't have a camera or animal in her hand, it's likely because she was swimming in Chuckanut Bay outside of her home at sunset - something she did regularly into her 70s.
Sally is survived by her nephew Frank Uhrig, great-nieces Marianne, Ellen, and Nellie Uhrig, great-nephews Jed, Wyatt, Waylon, and Levi, and her cat Roxy.
A graveside service will be held on Wednesday February 9th at 2:00 p.m. at Greenacres Memorial Park in Ferndale, WA. To share your memories of Aunt Sally, please visit her online guestbook at www.molesfarewelltributes.com.
