Scott Fassett Obituary

Scott Ellinger Fassett passed away unexpectedly on July 12, 2013 at the age of 42. Scott was born to Harold Stedman Fassett Jr. and Joanne Fassett in Zama, Japan in 1970 where his father was a Lieutenant Commander in the Navy. He was stationed there until he transferred to Bremerton in 1974 and moved the family to Horseshoe Lake. This beloved lake was Scott's childhood home and he and his brother had so many memories and stories about growing up there. Scott was very involved in soccer and baseball, playing All-Stars baseball through High School. His son, Taylor, shows the same talent for baseball as his Dad. Scott married Sara Zanner in 1998. Their daughter, Jordyn, was born in 2000 and was his pride and joy. Their son, Taylor, was born in 2002 and their family was complete with a son to carry on the Fassett name. Scott was such a fun Dad and loved his kids more than anything. They have many fond memories of him playing, laughing, and genuinely enjoying life with them. Scott brought his theatrical talents to the Bellingham Theater Guild and had great parts in many local plays such as "Charlie's Aunt", "Who's Wives Are They Anyway?", and 'Arsenic and Old Lace". His final play was his best when he played the role of George Bailey in "It's A Wonderful Life". Many of his family members and friends were able to come and see him shine in this lead role. His daughter, Jordyn, is following in his acting footsteps. Scott was a bright spark in this world. He loved people; happily talking to anyone he would meet about anything. When he walked into a room, you knew he was there. He was an amazing writer, thinker, and an old soul yet perpetually youthful on the surface. He had a strong faith in God and passed his faithfulness on to his family. We will all miss his vibrant spirit here but know that we will see him again in Heaven, where he is watching us all with a smile on his face. Scott was preceded in death by his father, Harold Stedman Fassett III in 2008. He is survived by his mother, Joanne Fassett, brothers, Chris Fassett and Ted Fassett, sister, Susan Fassett, his daughter Jordyn (13), and son Taylor (11), as well as his ex-wife and friend, Sara Fassett, and his Aunt Janet and Uncle John, and many nieces and nephews. A beautiful, small family service was held at Horseshoe Lake on July 21, 2013 as a tribute to the place where his best memories were.

To Sara and Family,

I just learned of your loss and am very sorry to hear of it. Scott was a great person that I had the pleasure of getting to know during "It's a Wonderful Life". I think I remember his laugh the most! At one point during the run of the show, he did an entire monologue with his zipper down! He just shrugged it off and said with his impish grin, "That Happens Sometimes!" We laughed and joked about that one for days and for the remainder of the performance we appointed one of the fellow actors to be the "zipper police"! We had such a great time. I had the pleasure of coming to the family home for New Years and enjoyed meeting everyone. Your children are amazing, talented kids. His will be a light that will be sorely missed. I wish you and the family all the best in this difficult time.

Dear Sara, Jordyn, Taylor and the entire Fassett family,

My thoughts and prayers are with you all but in particular Jordyn, Taylor and Sara.

My fondest memories of Scott where when Jordyn started school at Mt. View. Scott invented a new mode of transportation regularly, to bring Jordyn to school. We all waited to see what he would come up with next and enjoyed his spirit and laughter when he stopped by.

He really of loved his children and cared deeply about their schooling and interest. His vibrant spirit lives on in Jordyn and Taylor!!

Love you all,
Georgia Dellinger

Hello, I'm an old friend of Scott's mother and remember him as a teen and young man. How much energy and joy of life he shared with all around him. My husband and I were so shocked and could hardly believe the news of his passing so young. Our prayers are for you all. God bless and give you strength. Carol and Bill Read.

Sara and family,
I was sad and shocked to hear about Scott, I will always remember the days of Dr.Scott at the Southside Food Pavilion. He always made me smile and laugh when I ran into him. He was a good guy.

I'm so glad for the fun memories we have of Scott... sharing with us his knowledge of edible mushrooms all around Lake Padden and our own property (we will think of him each fall when the shaggy manes come out); watching our boys wrestle in the yard; bringing over delicious smoked salmon; glorious fireworks parties! He will be missed. And you all are in our prayers.

I was saddened to hear of my cousin Scott's passing. I had not seen him in 25 years, but I have thought of him often. We had fun as children, the few times he visited Michigan. Sending peace, love and light.
