Shelly Butenschoen Obituary

Shelly Lorraine Butenschoen

October 29, 1953 - September 28, 2025

Bellingham, Washington - Shelly Lorraine (Reed) Butenschoen, age 71, passed away peacefully on September 28, 2025, in Bellingham, Washington.

Born on October 29, 1953, in Seattle, Washington, Shelly was the daughter of Robert and June Reed. She had a lifelong passion for horses and always loved long car rides-it didn't matter the destination.

Shelly found great joy in family life. She shared a devoted marriage of 53 years with her husband, Kent, and took immense pride in their two sons, Jason and Dan. Her family continued to grow with the addition of Dan's wife, Joanna, and four beloved grandchildren: Bailey (Austin), Alyssa, Brooke, and Cole. Shelly cherished every opportunity to gather her family together. Those were the moments that brought her the greatest happiness.

She is also remembered by her brother, Bob Reed, along with many nieces, nephews, grandnieces, and grandnephews who were touched by her warmth and presence. Shelly was preceded in death by her parents, Robert and June Reed, as well as her brothers Randy and Rick Reed.

A reception to honor Shelly's life will be held on Friday, October 17, 2025 at 1:00 p.m. at Northlake Community Church, 1471 McLeod Rd. Bellingham, WA 98226.

May Shelly's memory bring comfort to all who knew and loved her.
