Wendell Jay Feenstra, 69, of Lynden, went home to be with his Lord and Savior Monday evening, March 19, 2018 at home after a 15 month battle with lymphoma. Wendell was born March 1, 1949 to parents John and Janet Feenstra in Parkston, SD. He moved to Lynden from South Dakota at age 4 with his parents and 2 sisters. Wendell grew up in the Lynden area graduating from Lynden Christian High school. Wendell married Lois "Loi" Heeringa on September 24, 1971, and together had two sons and a daughter. They were married 46 years. He worked as an RV technician at Wholesale Travel Sales for the majority of his working career. Wendell enjoyed mowing lawn and took care of the church lawn for many years. He began his retirement with a 2 acre blueberry farm located on the family farm. He went from watching his kids play sports to watching his grandkids play sports and loved it! Wendell was always working on a project ranging from car restoration to house remodeling to landscaping... there wasn't much he couldn't figure out how to fix or build. Wendell was an early member of Faith Community Church where he held various roles from Youth Leader to Elder to Deacon. He enjoyed studying God's Word through Bible Study Fellowship. Wendell is preceded in death by parents John and Janet Feenstra, stepmom Johanna Feenstra, in laws Lewis and Lucy Heeringa, and two brothers in law Bill Bos and Ron Heeringa. Wendell is survived by wife Loi (Heeringa) Feenstra of Lynden WA; son Cory and Julie Feenstra of Lynden, daughter Kara and Chris Boyd of Lynden, and son Tim and Sunny Feenstra of Issaquah WA; grandkids Tanner and Sami Feenstra (Cory and Julie) of Lynden and Abby, Eli and Esther Boyd (Chris and Kara) of Lynden. He will be greatly missed by siblings Marilyn and Jay Zylema of Michigan and Alvina and Rich Korthuis of Lynden WA; siblings in law Jean Heeringa of Lynden, Denny and Dorothy Gross of Lynden, Ruth Olson of Lynden, Stan and Helen Heeringa of Lynden, Darrol and Carolyn Scheffer of Friday Harbor WA, Len and Bev Honcoop of Lynden and numerous nieces and nephews. You are invited to join family and friends on Monday, March 26th for a Memorial service at 11:00 at Faith Community Church. A Lunch reception will follow. Family burial will precede at 9:45.
