Roscoe, IL - Beverly Jane (Townsend) DeMarb, age 90, passed away peacefully on November 8, 2025 in her home at NorthPointe Terrace with her loving family by her side. Bev was born to Marie and Dale Townsend on July 22, 1935. She graduated from the Chicago National Association of Dancing Masters in 1952 and from South Beloit High School in 1953. Bev married Jerome (Jerry) DeMarb on July 12, 1958, and they had three children Tracy, Todd and Terri. Bev was an active single mother involved in the South Beloit school board and many organizations to support her children and the community. At an early age, Bev developed a passion for dance and teaching others. She owned and operated Miss Bev's Dance Studio for 22 years and taught many young girls and boys to shuffle-ball-change. Former students recognized and addressed her as 'Miss Bev' until her last year of life. In 1967, she also took over the family business, Perkins Tavern. She brought entertainment and a sense of community to her loyal customers for 38 years. Bev took most pride in her role as a 'Grandma Bev' to her five grandchildren. She enjoyed making special memories with them at her beautiful home on South Bluff, summer home at Pearl Lake, and on vacations to Marco Island, Florida. Bev was a devout Catholic and lifelong parishioner of St. Peters Catholic Church in South Beloit. She cherished her relationship with Jesus Christ and defended her religion fearlessly. She loved volunteering with the St. Vincent DePaul Society and spending time in the chapel. Bev is survived by her three children, Tracy (John) Prieve, Todd (Chris) DeMarb and Terri (Todd) Brown, grandchildren Megan (David) Jacobs, Chelsea (Jordan) Nettesheim, Kate (Paul) Murno, Mattie Brown and Chase Prieve. She loved and cherished six great grandchildren Drew and Rhys Jacobs, Kenny and Henry Nettesheim, and Mason and Logan Murno. She is predeceased by her parents, Dale and Marie Townsend, and father of her children, Jerry DeMarb. We want to thank the loving staff and resident community at NorthPointe Terrace Assisted Living for their care over the last 3 years. Pam, April, Wendi, Kris, Tess, Jamie, Jody, Lashawn, Vida and the rest of the staff that provided our mother with comfort, love and exceptional care throughout her residency.
