Janesville, WI - Cheryl Gates Hutchison, age 79, of Janesville, passed away in peace on October 9, 2025, at home. She was born in Painesville, OH, on July 3, 1946, the daughter of the late William and Dorothy (Major) Borrows and was raised in the Upper Peninsula of Michigan. Cheryl worked for Rock-Walworth Head Start for 43 years before retiring due to health reasons. Cheryl loved her work and believed in the mission of Head Start. She also valued her co-workers and the families she served. Cheryl loved and valued her friendships, our Earth, and always hoped for God's children to be treated fairly and with respect.

Cheryl was blessed to have her sister, Merrilee St. Andre of Sheboygan; son, Stacey "Bubba" Gates and his wife, Patricia Gates; and two grandchildren, Clarice and Clinton Gates, all residing in Peoria, IL

A Memorial service to celebrate Cheryl's life will be held at 12:00 p.m. on Wednesday, Oct. 22, 2025, at the APFEL WOLFE FUNERAL HOME, 21 S. Austin Rd. Janesville. Visitation will take place on Wednesday from 11:00 a.m. until the hour of service. In lieu of flowers, donations are appreciated to Rock-Walworth Family services.
