My dearest cousin Brian,
Thank you so much for this lovely remembrance of your sister and my cousin, Ainslie. It was beautifully written, as Cousin Polly said. Throughout her tumultuous life, Ainslie maintained her fierce independence and dignity. I just hope and pray she was not in a lot of pain at the end, and that her passing was a peaceful one. Like my brother WIlliam, I, too, have fond memories of passing time at the Higley Hill house in Marlboro as a child in the early 70's ,and at the Davisson Winchester farm= magical sleigh rides wrapped up in huge bear rugs. I was timid, shy and terrified of Uncle Will's huge draft horses and Ainslie showed me how to pet them, feed them, be with them.....
I remember spending time up at Higley Hill watching Ainslie drawing incredible works of art. I was fascinated by her. I admired her creativeness, tenacity and determination to be herself, even if that offended some people.
Our Mom-Anne Heyniger maintained a relationship with Ainslie up until her passing in 2022. She felt strongly that we should be a presence in Ainslie's life. Every time I sent Ainslie a Xmas or Valentine's card, she would respond back promptly with a card of her own, with her characteristic black-ink handwriting, written in rigid straight lines. She was always grateful for our infrequent communication(s). I hope you are finally at peace my dear cousin. Come visit me in my dreams.

Thank you to Brian for this remembrance. Ainslie was my first cousin and I was sad to hear about her passing after emergency surgery. Her life was indeed "a frequent challenge" as she soldiered on through broken limbs, truck crashes, health issues and other problems, but she maintained a state of grace and dignity through it all. My fondest memories are of visiting Ainslie at the Higley Hill house in Marlboro as a child in the early 1970s, seeing her natural affinity with stepfather Will Davisson's horses, her artistic talent in fashioning brilliant Remington-esque horse sculptures out of wax, her comic strips, and a high-fidelity stereo system that was very impressive to an 11-year-old boy. Her passing came too soon and too suddenly for all of us.
