Corey, Chris, Linda, and all who loved Bessie -
Years ago, I officially met Bessie when she arrived at the youth baseball field in Arlington one Saturday morning. If I remember correctly, it was a barn burner of a game - possibly 23-23 with a lot of walks, errors, and hit-by-pitches - I remind you, it was 9 & 10 year olds playing. Bessie cheered for each team, heck she better have, they were both from Arlington! After the game, she came up to me - I was battered and bruised from being the "lucky" umpire behind the plate - and said to me, "Heck of a game, every kid had a smile on their face! It's a great Saturday for baseball." She handed me a check, a donation for our program, and as she walked away, she said, "See you next week!" I saw Bessie most weekends at the ball field, cheering on the underdog, smiling and enjoying every minute of the sometimes very, very, very long games. Throughout the winters, I would run into her at the post office - our chats consisted of plans for baseball, thoughts about baseball, and our love of baseball. Every single year, for the 11 years I ran the program, Bessie would send a donation and show up at games, whether she knew any of the kids or not. I wish there were more like Bessie in this world, you know, women who love baseball and their community. I will do my best to continue her legacy. With love and respect, Kate Bryan

Dear Linda and Family,
Mom & I just learned of Bessie's passing. We are very sorry for your loss. I really looked forward to sending out her cards, when I started having the problem with my leg and couldn't get to the house to visit. I really loved her and Leo. Now they are together with Keith. God Speed Bessie Budro. May you rest in peace my friend.❤

Linda, Corey and Christopher,
I will miss talking with Aunt Bessie on the phone, driving by the yellow house in Arlington and waving Hello even though she did not hear it. I hope you are talking with Mom ( Janet ) and she is giving you a perm! Hug everyone for me! Thank you Linda for being there for Bessie! She will be missed.
