Bessie Huff Obituary

BERLIN, N.Y. -- Bessie Marion (Betty) Vincent Huff, 79, of Sand Bank Road died on Tuesday at the Hoosick Falls Health Center.

Born January 6, 1924 in Berlin, she was the daughter of the late Jesse and Tressa Deyoe Vincent. She was the loving wife of the late Wesley Chaloner Huff who died on July 22, 1989. They were married in the Berlin United Methodist Church on Aug. 3, 1946.

Betty graduated from Berlin Central High School in 1943 and worked at the Watervliet Arsenal during World War II making broaches for turning gun barrels. After the war, Betty graduated from Albany Business College in 1946. She then married and became a homemaker. Mrs. Huff was a member of the Berlin United Methodist Church where she belonged to the “Pairs & Spares” group. She also taught Sunday school there from 1958 to 1974. Her hobbies included sewing and knitting.

Survivors include two brothers Alva Vincent of Berlin, Ralph Vincent of Averill Park along with many nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by two brothers Elmer and Harold Wayne Vincent.

Funeral services will be held on Saturday at 2 p.m. in the Berlin United Methodist Church, Main Street, Berlin where the Rev. Robert Hurd, pastor, and the Rev. Paul Baker, rector of St. Luke’s Episcopal Church in Cambridge, will officiate.

Interment will follow in the Berlin Community Cemetery.

A visiting time will be at church starting at 12:30 p.m. on Saturday.

Memorial contributions may be made to the Berlin Rescue Squad in loving memory of Betty Huff.
