Carl Capella Obituary
1929 - 2015 BENNINGTON, VT Carl "Gig" Capella passed away March 11, 2015 in Bennington from a brief illness. Carl was born in Bennington on Aug. 30, 1929 to Edward Capella and Anna (Mahon) Capella. Carl received his education in Bennington and was a 1947 graduate of Benhi. Carl served two years in the Navy after graduation. Carl married Patricia Towslee on July 2, 1950. Pat predeceased Carl on Oct. 29, 2009. In earlier years, Carl and Pat were business partners in real estate, swimming pool sales, Midtown Motel and White Birches Mobile Home Park. Carl most enjoyed time spent with family and friends at his camp in Woodford. Carl leaves two daughters, Dede (John) Allard and Karen Post of Bennington; brother, Donald (Anita) Capella; grandchildren, Tyler (Carrie) Capella of Canton, NY, Steve Carbonaro, John Allard, Erica Allard, Andrea Allard, and Colin Capella all of Bennington and seven great-grandchildren and a great-great-grandchild. Carl is also survived by nephew Karl (Meridy) Capella of Bennington, nieces, Laurie Capella of Winchester, NH and Cheryl (Jeff) Edwards of Bennington. Carl was predeceased by his son, John Capella in 1986. Carl's family would like to express their heartfelt appreciation to friends who visited him during recent hospital stays and to the staff who cared for him at Southwestern Vermont Medical Center. Services will be private and held at the convenience of the family. Contributions in Carl's memory may be made to Southwestern Vermont Medical Center or Second Chance Animal Center through the office of the MAHAR and SON FUNERAL Home, 628 Main St., Bennington, VT 05201. A random act of kindness or help to someone in need would also be much appreciated in Carl's memory.

Dear Capella family,
Carl was such a dear man. I had the privilege of seeing him every morning at Friendly's. He as well as the other coffee guys made my morning. I will truly miss him and I was so glad to have seen him while he was in the hospital. He will always have a special place in my heart! May you rest in peace my friend.
