Donald T. Sumner
1943-2010 BENNINGTON Mr. Donald T. Sumner, 67, a former longtime resident of Bennington, died Tuesday, April 6, 2010, at his home in Brandon.
Born in Bennington on Mar. 30, 1943, son of Guy T. and Gladys Parker Sumner, Don grew up in Bennington, attending local schools, and was a graduate of Bennington Catholic High School.
He had worked for many years at the Bennington Pottery as a kiln operator, Bennington Laundry as a machine operator, and at the Blue Benn Diner as a cook.
Don was a communicant of Sacred Heart St. Francis de Sales Church and a member of Bennington Lodge of Elks #567 and Loyal Order of Moose #1233.
He will be remembered for his excellent cooking skills, always being willing to help others by cooking at their events. He enjoyed reading in his leisure time.
Don leaves cousins, Gerry Racicot and Dorothy Blodgett, both of Bennington, and nieces, Amy and Leeann.
He was predeceased by a brother, Orrin Sumner.
FUNERAL NOTICE: Funeral services will be held on Monday, Apr. 12 at 6 p.m. at the HANSON-WALBRIDGE FUNERAL HOME with Reverend James Preskenis, C.S.C., officiating. Friends may call at the funeral home from 5-6 p.m. Burial will take place in the Park Lawn Cemetery.
Memorial gifts may be made to the Sacred Heart School in care of the Hanson-Walbridge Funeral Home, 213 West Main Street, Bennington, VT 05201.

You were a tremendous family friend, and i will always remember you as 'Bumner', your joke name you had among your loving friends. I used to think you were my uncle until i was around 10, when my mom told me you were actually her cousin. Your great sense of humor and laugh will be with me till its my turn.
